Meredith turned around and saw the mess behind her.
Andy woke up and was about to get himself out of bed.
He came out and saw Meredith. He was stunned. "Are you..."
He didn't look at Meredith's face carefully last time. After taking a closer look, he found out that she really resembled that person.
He didn't mean facial features, but the eyes and temperaments.
"You are... her daughter?"
Andy staggered over. His tone sounded excited.
"... I don't know."
Meredith shook her head. She really didn't know who she was because Cali was dead and the girl's blood type didn't match.
"No, you must be her daughter."
Andy sighed. "You may have a lot of questions. Let's talk about it, shall we?"
Meredith and Derek looked at each other. Derek said, "Do you mind if I'm present?"
Derek felt that Andy was not a decent person, so he was worried about Meredith's safety.
"Don't worry. I'm too old to do any harm to her. I won't run away or do anything dangerous. I just want to ask some questions."
Hearing this, Meredith thought for a moment, "Okay, no problem."
With that, she went up to hold Andy. "Don't worry. It's okay."
Derek still felt uneasy. However, both of them wanted to talk alone, so he couldn't meddle in.
"May I ask what happened back then?"
Meredith helped Andy to the bed. He had just woken up and was very weak. After a few steps, he was panting.
"Since you are her daughter, you have the right to know."
Andy was lost in thought and seemed to recall things that happened a long time ago.
"I am an orphan. I was abandoned by my parents and grew up in an orphanage. Therefore, I am a loner, so no one is willing to adopt me."
Andy began with his background. Meredith did not interrupt him but listened quietly.
"Fortunately, my irresponsible parents gave me a good IQ. After I went to school, I was always at the top of the class with excellent grades. I did well in the college entrance examination and went to medical university in Capital City."
"At that time, I didn't know that there were a lot of rich and powerful young men in that university. Because I was a loner since I was a child, I couldn't please others, so I was treated as an alien and caused a lot of people's hostility. Then, I began to lose things inexplicably, or I would be teased and bullied."
Meredith felt the same way when she heard that.
When she was in prison, she also lived miserably.
She didn't expect his past to be so painful.
"Just when I couldn't hold on, I met Cali. She was really nice. She backed me up once and told me not to worry. No one would dare to bully me because she'll protect me."
"Since then, I had followed her all the time. I knew that I didn't deserve her, so I just wanted to stay behind her and help her when she was in need. I just didn't expect that she would fall in love with a man she shouldn't have."
