"Ellie, what's wrong? You look a little strange."
Ellie shook her head and felt helpless and lost.
In fact, she was already mentally prepared. Perhaps, everything was just a coincidence, but she had long wanted to know who her parents were.
Back then, she was picked up from the forest by a villager. In that forest, wild animals would appear from time to time. She was left there, which indicated that her parents did not want her to live.
Usually, if a baby was left at the entrance of a hospital or a welfare home, it would still be likely to be saved. However, she was abandoned in that kind of deserted forest. If she hadn't been so lucky to be discovered by someone, she would have starved to death or been eaten by wild animals.
So all these years, Ellie wanted to find her parents and ask them why they abandoned her, or they just carelessly lost their children.
But for so many years, she had found nothing about them.
Talking with Amelia made Ellie very comfortable. She thought that if this woman were her mother, there might be some stories about what happened back then.
"You can tell me if you have any difficulties. Although I can't help you, I can at least comfort you. After all, I'm so old and have experienced more things than you have."
"It's nothing. I just thought of something troubling me at work."
Ellie shook her head and said nothing more.
Amelia did not force her to speak when noticing her unwillingness.
After a while, the hospital called and said that the physical examination report had come out. Ellie stood up and said, "Mrs. Flores, I still have something to do. I will come to see you again when I'm free."
Amelia nodded and also felt very close to the girl in front of her and naturally welcomed her visit.
Ellie rushed to the hospital and took the physical examination report. Everything was normal. As long as the time was right, she could have a bone marrow transplant at any time.
However, she did not know when Evelyn would agree.
Just as Ellie was thinking, her cell phone rang. It was from Joseph, Evelyn's uncle.
"Ellie, I heard you are in J City now. Why haven't you come back yet?"
Ellie was surprised that Joseph would call her, since the people of the Smiths never liked her.
"It might take some more time. What's the matter?"
"It's okay. I just want to ask about how things are going with Evelyn and Derek?"
At first, Joseph didn't take the affair between Derek and Evelyn seriously. After all, Old Master had always opposed it.
But now, Evelyn went straight to J City to pursue Derek, which could only prove that she was very serious.
If Evelyn married Derek, she would probably have a higher position in the Smiths.
Instead, Joseph wanted them to stay away from each other so as not to influence the heirship of his son Charles. After all, he had known how tactful Derek was.
If Evelyn, who was usually stupid and arrogant, had such a brilliant helper, there would be endless trouble for him.
"Not bad now..."
Ellie knew that Meredith would definitely agree to leave Derek for the sake of her mother's illness . If so, it might work out soon between Derek and Evelyn.
When Joseph heard this, he hung up with mixed feelings.
Stary, Joseph's wife, saw this and quickly asked, "How is it? Is she successful now?"
"No, but it seems that everything is going well. If she really marries into the Xaviers, it will threaten Charles..."
