Kingston said, "Ever since Lifehaven Pharmaceuticals started their production, the number of respiratory disorder cases and unprecedented dementia cases in Woolfields started increasing.
"In the one year the factory started production, a total of six dementia cases, six skeletal fluorosis cases, and seven cancer cases—all which were unheard of previously—have been diagnosed in Woolfields.
He continued, "There are even more respiratory disorder cases emerging, and almost all of those were endemic diseases. It's hard to say how many people would die if this continues."
Matthew felt a surge of admiration rising from within. Although Kingston was a veterinarian, he never let go of the role of a plague doctor.
Most people would never understand the role of a plague doctor. However, Nicholas once told him that being a plague doctor was one of the toughest jobs.
When an outbreak happened, the sick would treat them like gods, while the healthy would avoid them like plagues.
A plague doctor must have a strong moral compass. Otherwise, it would be easy for a plague doctor to profit from selling medication during outbreaks.
Suddenly, a flutter of footsteps echoed from outside. Matthew and Kingston turned to the door, seeing a group of burly men with baseball bats bursting into the yard.
The leader was a chubby man dressed in a black short-sleeved shirt with a gold necklace around his neck. He waddled forward, body swaying as he walked.
The chubby man noticed the two in the yard and asked, "Which one of you is Kingston Wooler?"
Kingston's face turned ghastly when he saw the crowd. He hesitated slightly before standing up. "I'm Kingston Wooler. Who are you?"
The chubby man pointed at himself and said, "If you want to show me some respect, you can call me Mr. Hoffman—if not, just call me Dalt. I'm here today on Mr. Stone's request to talk to you about some things."
Kingston took a deep breath and said, "I refuse to talk about Mr. Stone's matters!"
