Chapter 13 

“Who does he think he is? The king?” 

Many of them did not know Ethan well, so they started believing Stephen, thinking that Ethan really was corrupt. 

Satisfied with their reactions, Stephen said, “Follow me.” 

Then, he glanced at Zane, adding, “Now, I’ll take all of you to see Ethan’s ‘harem‘ and show you just how corrupt this supposedly indispensable Ethan really is!” 

Everyone noticed that Stephen’s last remark was aimed at Zane. They all turned to look at Zane, but the latter said nothing and looked completely disinterested. 

In fact, he had tuned out. For all he cared, Stephen could yap all he wanted. Riveria was about to go down in flames anyway. 

Seeing Zane’s silence, Stephen felt even more smug. He was relishing the moment, especially after Zane mocked them the previous night, saying that Riveria was doomed without Ethan. Now it was time to show just how worthless Ethan really was! 

With the file in hand, he entered the first building, starting his search on the first floor. Everyone behind him watched curiously as he stood proudly in front of the first unit on the first floor, wondering how beautiful a woman could be to cost Ethan millions of dollars. 

Liam, on the other hand, felt nervous. He still could not believe that Ethan was involved in such scandalous behavior. 

Instead of knocking immediately, Stephen took out his phone and started a video call with George. 

The call connected quickly. George was in a virtual meeting with several other governors, sharing their experiences. 

“George, I’m at the location. I’m ready to start the operation.” 

George was thrilled. “Good! I’m in a meeting with some other governors right now. Ethan’s case will make a perfect example. Don’t hang up the call. Livestream the whole thing so we can all watch! That way, not only will you thoroughly ruin Ethan’s reputation, but you’ll also get to make a name for yourself in front of the other governors. It’s killing two birds with one stone!” 

Stephen instantly understood and handed the phone to his assistant, instructing the latter to broadcast the entire operation. 

In the office, George continued his video conference with the other governors. 

“We were just talking about anti–corruption, and I have a prime example here. A man

named Ethan Rivers has spent a billion dollars to buy two apartment buildings to house his mistresses who occupy every floor. He’s been supporting over seventy of them. Isn’t that simply shameless?” 

The other governors were shocked. Over seventy women? Not even a king would go that far. “We can’t let someone like that get away with this,” someone said. 

George nodded and said, “We’re about to investigate the women he’s keeping now. I’ll switch over to the live stream for you. 

Once the other governors had tuned into the stream, George signaled for Stephen to proceed. 

Stephen rubbed his hands together eagerly. Today would be the day he crushed Ethan and made a name for himself! 

“Ding!” 

He pressed the doorbell, then announced, “We’re government officials. Please cooperate. with our investigation.” 

Everyone behind him craned their necks, anxious not to miss a second of what the women Ethan supported looked like. 

Just then, the door opened with a click.
