Chapter 14
The next second, a middle–aged woman appeared before everyone. She was not even close to pretty, and her figure was somewhat plump. More importantly, she had salt and pepper hair, making her look like she was in her late forties or early fifties.
Everyone was stunned when they saw her. She looked a little too old, and her looks and figure were nothing impressive either. Was that really the type Ethan was into?
“That’s odd,” someone muttered softly.
There was a saying that men would never stop being attracted to younger and prettier women, so how could a successful man like Ethan be interested in someone like that?
While the people were trying to wrap their heads around it, the woman, named Felicia, scanned the crowd and frowned slightly when she did not see Ethan.
“Who are you?” she asked.
Her question snapped everyone back to reality.
Stephen chuckled and mocked, “I have to say, Ethan has quite unique tastes. Haha! Thank god Rachel left him! At a closer look, she and Ethan do make a great pair.
Felicia did not quite understand what he meant but could sense Stephen’s malice toward
Ethan.
Her voice grew colder. “What do you want?”
Stephen looked down at her with a sneer and asked, “Do you know Ethan Rivers?”
Felicia nodded. Of course, she knew him. It was Ethan who called her when her husband died during a peacekeeping mission.
She would never forget that day two years ago when she met Ethan at the hospital and he hugged her, his eyes red with tears.
When Felicia saw her husband’s body, she fainted and only regained consciousness hours later. Ethan was the first person she saw when she did.
Due to her husband’s special status, no public funeral could be held, and his heroic deeds could not be publicized. Hence, he had to be cremated in secret.
Ethan had provided a substantial amount of compensation and, under the guise of hosting a memorial for a friend, had organized a dignified ceremony for her husband.
Felicia was both moved and worried. She feared that the funeral would bring trouble and danger to Ethan, considering how ruthless and fierce those devilish criminals were. However, Ethan was not worried at all. Even after two years, Felicia still remembered what he said to her.

“Your husband was a brave man who protected countless people. Now, it’s my turn to protect you. As for those people, don’t worry about them. No one is stronger than you.”
He then glanced at Felicia’s two children and said softly, “With me around, no devil will harm a mother.”
Later, he gave her a home in Regal Estates, Felicia had initially refused but finally accepted at Ethan’s insistence. Once there, she discovered that everyone in the neighborhood had a story like hers!
