Chapter 134
While others criticized Stephen for his incompetence, the young woman before him defended him, despite not knowing his name yet.
“Thank you.” Stephen thanked the girl in his heart.
“Let’s forget about that. We actually haven’t introduced ourselves. I’m Snow, and you are?” the girl asked nervously.
“Stephen Quinn.”
Snow covered her mouth, feigning surprise.
Stephen, finding her reaction amusing, said, “Thank you for defending me.
Snow snapped out of it and shook her head softly. “I’m just stating the truth. People say you’re evil, but I think they’re wrong. You’re quite handsome.”
She was good with her words, especially with a man. With just a few comments, she had Stephen on cloud nine.
Snow and her fellow ‘sisters‘ were trained to capture men’s hearts, and the best among them was her predecessor, Ellen. However, even Ellen died at Ethan’s hands, and here was Stephen, already wrapped around Snow’s finger after just a couple of comments.
“Thanks again.” Stephen like he was walking on air.
Just then, the main dishes arrived at their table, but Stephen was not interested in eating
anymore.
He asked, “Are you from around here?”
Snow shook her head. “No. I’m from somewhere else.”
“Are you here on vacation? The scenery here is breathtaking. I don’t get to see such beautiful places often. I’ll be working hard to make this city even more stunning.”
Snow smiled. “I’m sure you can do it.”
Stephen was flattered. It felt great being trusted once.
After dinner, he got up and asked, “It’s still early. How about we take a stroll?”
Snow glanced at her phone and said, “I’m sorry. My friends are calling for me. I have to go
now.”
“Alright.” Stephen looked slightly disappointed. “In that case, can I get your number?”
“Sure!”

Chapter 134
Stephen’s mood soared again when he added Snow’s contact.
After he saw Snow off, he went back to his hotel. Later that night, at 10 p.m., he received a text from Snow with just two words.
[Good night.]
Stephen grinned and stared at his phone for a long time.
The next morning, the first thing he did when he woke up was to text Snow.
[Good morning.]
Minutes later, he received a reply.
When Stephen arrived downstairs, the assistant that the mayor assigned to him had prepared breakfast at the table. However, before he could finish eating, the mayor came knocking.
“We have a problem.”
Stephen’s heart skipped a beat when he heard the mayor. After what happened to the two cities, he was traumatized by bad news.
“What happened?” he asked, losing the appetite to eat.
“The team responsible for constructing the current stadium said they can’t finish a new venue over the water in just a month, and they’re saying we’re not paying them enough.”
