Chapter 146
Stephen answered the call. The mayor had requested his presence back in Aqua City for some matters that needed his attention.
“The construction of the stadium needs more money, and a few towns have been restless. They think that the compensation for the demolition is too little.”
The mayor also felt overwhelmed. All those issues were under Stephen’s management. now, and he did not dare to make decisions without Stephen’s input.
“Okay.”
Stephen hung up the phone and looked at Snow apologetically.
“I need to take care of some matters in Aqua City. Do you want to accompany me back?”
Snow shook her head. “I’ll wait for you here.”
“Okay.” Stephen gently stroked her cheek and said, “I’ll be back as soon as possible.”
He left quickly, never once sparing a glance at Rachel in the living room.
Rachel felt her heart aching so badly. It was as if someone had reached inside and squeezed it hard, twisting until she could barely breathe.
In terms of looks, she was more beautiful than Snow, and in terms of figure, she was more perfect in every way. Hence, she could not understand how things had gone so wrong.
“How could he have changed? Why can’t he be like Ethan?”
While Stephen headed to Aqua City, Snow silently left the villa and took a car to Drakthorn Ridge. When Stephen had been there, the shock had been too overwhelming for her to ask the questions she needed to.
Since the guards recognized Snow, they did not stop her, and Snow arrived at Ethan’s villa without any issues. The front gate was still wide open, almost as if he was waiting for her. Snow gulped and slowly walked inside.
In the living room, she saw Ethan again, and two cups of tea were on the table.
“Did you know I was coming?” she asked.
Ethan said calmly, “All I know is that you have many questions.”
Snow walked over and sat across Ethan, picking up the teacup. The tea smelled fragrant, its warmth making her feel a little more at ease.
“Thank you.”
Ethan took a sip without saying a word.

Chapter 146
After a moment of silence, Snow finally lowered her head and asked, “Where did they die?”
She was asking about where her parents died.
“A town at the border, but that town has been destroyed, and there’s nothing left of their bodies.”
Snow clenched her fists. Even though she had expected it, hearing the confirmation hit her like a knife to the heart.
She had wanted to find an opportunity to pay respects to her parents, but now, it seemed she no longer had that opportunity.
“About Nina… Did she have any regrets?”
The people she cared about the most were her parents and Nina. Now that she found out her parents were dead and Nina had committed suicide, the only thing she could ask was whether Nina had died without any regrets.
“Yes,” said Ethan. “You not leaving Riveria was her regret.”
Snow fell silent, feeling as if a knife had stabbed her in the heart again. She did not leave because she wanted to avenge Nina, but she did not expect that to be the truth.
