Chapter 179
“No! Snow!” Stephen yelled to the sky and broke down again, tears streaming down his
face.
The first time he heard Snow was dead, he broke down, and when he could not find her grave, he lost it again. Then, the news that she was alive sparked hope in him, but now, he was hit with a devastating truth:
He would never find her in his life. He could only live the rest of his life consumed by guilt and despair.
How was he supposed to move on? How could anyone move on from something like that?
His screams were heart–wrenching. Even Liam found it cruel.
First, they gave him despair, then a glimmer of hope, only to tear it all away and leave him. in a pit of hopelessness once again. However, Ethan did not stop there. They left him with enough hope to keep him hanging, forcing him to live in a constant state of torment–of guilt, pain, and hope. It was brutal torture!
Now Liam was beginning to understand why Ethan could bring peace to Riveria. He was kind and forgiving to good people, but to his enemies, ‘terrifying‘ was too mild a word to describe it.
He did not need to use force. Just a few words from him could make someone feel worse than death. It was countless times more frightening than a gun!
With today’s medical advancements, physical wounds could easily be healed, but what about wounds to the heart?
“He can never let go.” Ethan’s voice came from behind.
Liam was confused. “What do you mean by that, Mr. Rivers?”
“It’s simple. I’ve told Stephen the answer. If he could let go, he wouldn’t care what others think of him and would have his family search for her. He could even offer a reward to others to help find her, but he won’t because he can’t let go.”
That was why Stephen would live the rest of his life in agony.
Heu
was like a starving man holding a roasted chicken in his hands, but he refused to eat it! All he could do was stare at the chicken, enduring the torment of his hunger day after day.
Liam gasped when he finally understood the situation. In an instant, he realized he had been far too soft in how he had viewed Ethan earlier.
Ethan had given Stephen what he wanted, and at the same time, Stephen knew that he had the power to find Snow. However, he could not use that power, even though Snow was

practically right within his reach.
Liam believed that if the devil truly existed in this world, it must surely bear Ethan’s face!
He felt a wave of relief. Thankfully, he had always shown respect to Ethan, or if he ever became Ethan’s enemy, Ethan would push him so far that suicide would seem like the only way out!!
As the car neared the city, Liam asked, “Where would you like to go, Mr. Rivers?”
“Drakthorn Ridge.”
Liam did not understand at first, but then it all made sense. After all, who could stop if he wanted to leave? Thus, it did not matter where he lived.
