However, Rachel knew that Ethan could not return. First of all, the Quinns would not allow it, but even if he could return, the consequences would be serious.

Once back in his room, Stephen sunk into bed, feeling drained. He wished Snow was still by his side. At least then, he would have someone to comfort and encourage him. However, just thinking about Snow made his heart ache. If he had not hurt Snow, she would not have left him. 

At the thought of Snow, the weariness that had been weighing on him now felt more than physical; it was as if his very soul was exhausted. In the end, the regret kept him awake! 

In the evening, George returned home. 

He called Rachel over and asked, “What do you think of Stephen?” 

“Other than being a little handsome and coming from an influential family, he’s pretty ordinary,” Rachel replied. 

Ever since Stephen slapped her, he no longer seemed so impressive in her eyes. 

Confused, Rachel asked, “Dad, why are you suddenly asking me this?” 

George explained, “It’s my fault for putting you through this, but from now on, I won’t interfere in your marriage anymore.” 

He also had his opinions about Stephen. Watching Stephen yelling at and hitting Rachel, while he had to step in to comfort Stephen, had been painful for him. 

Now, things had changed. He had become in charge of running Riveria, burdened with the mission of revitalizing it, while Stephen was despised by everyone. Hence, he no longer had to live under Stephen’s shadow. 

As long as he could raise Riveria’s GDP to 20 trilion, he would be on equal footing with the Quinns! 

Rachel was shocked. Did that mean she would not force her to marry Stephen anymore?

Later that night, when they were getting ready for bed, Rachel walked to the bed and said to Stephen, “I’ve been feeling unwell these days, so you should sleep in another room for 

now.” 

Stephen was stunned. After all, he had apologized, and now he was not even allowed to share a bed with her? 

Anger surged through him. He was a Quinn. When had he ever been denied a woman’s bed?
