Chapter 22
Brandon picked up his coffee mug, intending to take a sip to calm his anger. “I’m not deaf. What’s the good news?”
The young man, Sky North, caught his breath and said, “Ethan Rivers has been arrested.”
The mug fell and shattered on the ground with crash, coffee spilling everywhere. However, Brandon seemed not to notice.
He stared at Sky wide–eyed and enunciated each word, “Ethan Rivers has been arrested?”
Sky nodded, saying excitedly, “Yes, I heard it downtown. The charges are embezzlement and bribery.”
“What?”
Brandon thought he must have misheard. Embezzlement and bribery? Who? Ethan Rivers?
That was an absolute joke. Did they not know who Ethan was? The man did not need to resort to such despicable means to make money.
If Ethan really wanted money, all he needed to do was say the word, and they would all willingly hand it over to him, just begging for him to spare their livelihoods.
“It must be false information,” Brandon said. “Could Ethan have released this to test us?”
No one could blame Brandon for being paranoid after all that Ethan had traumatized him.
Even though he could lead the entire town of over ten thousand people to an annual income of over a hundred million, he had never managed to beat Ethan. In fact, he had not even come close to gaining a slight advantage.
“It should be true,” Sky said. “Many people downtown are talking about it.”
Brandon pondered for a moment. He hoped it was true because if Ethan was out of the picture, he could return to his old trade. Those days of bringing home money in briefcases could return! Growing wheat hardly made any money.
“Don’t get excited just yet,” Brandon said. “Go and find out more about it. We’ll wait a little. Once we’re sure Ethan has really been arrested, then we’ll act.”
He used to be someone with unshakable confidence. However, ever since meeting Ethan, he had become cautious and suspicious.
He had no choice. He might stand a chance fighting against the odds, but if he fought against Ethan, one wrong move and he would lose everything!
“Alright!” Sky ran off urgently.
Brandon’s eyes lit up with excitement as he muttered, “If he has really been arrested… Our

era is coming back! This is truly a stroke of luck Haha!”
The usually mature and steady Brandon could not help but laugh out loud.
Meanwhile, Stephen and George had returned to the
“We can’t afford any more mistakes in our next move.”
They had to apologize properly and make sure the widows were satisfied. With that, the staff brought in various documents about the widows‘ living expenses, monthly allowances, and more.
Stephen, who was not too concerned about it, remarked, “If Ethan could afford to support them, it should be easy for us, right?”
However, as soon as he looked at the documents, he was stunned.
Their daily expenses alone were one thousand dollars! Their monthly living allowance was as high as 50 thousand dollars! The annual tuition fees were much more, a full 2001 thousand dollars, and those were the expenses just for a family with one child.
