If Ethan were to vie for George’s position as governor, that would be unacceptable 

Luckily, George had discovered Ethan’s intentions quickly and acted even faster. He had nipped Ethan’s aspirations in the bud! 

“I’ve really underestimatell him. Who would have thought he had such a strong ability to win people over?” 

George sat on the sofa and took a sip of his coffee, which calmed him down a little. 

“What does Ethan Rivers have to do with Riveria’s success? It’s all thanks to my wise leadership. Without me, Riveria would have fallen into chaos.” 

Not long after, Stephen returned, bringing some important news he had uncovered. 

“I’ve made some big discoveries,” he told George. “I found out that Ethan owns more than ten properties in Horizon Heights, among which are eight villas.” 

“Oh?” George perked up immediately. 

More than ten properties, among which were eight villas, was no small number. Although Horizon Heights was not the most luxurious community in Riveria, it was by no means bad either. 

Each apartment cost over 200 thousand dollars, and a villa started at 500 thousand dollars. Owning more than ten properties there would easily amount to tens of millions. 

“I also found out that he’s hardly ever stayed there. He’s always had others manage them.” Stephen snickered and continued, “I suspect there’s something hidden there that cannot see the light of day.” 

George understood what Stephen implied. “You think it’s money hidden in there?” 

Stephen nodded. If not live in them, what else would someone do with over ten properties? The obvious answer was to stash something–money, most likely. 

As long as they found money stashed in there, whether embezzled or obtained through legitimate channels, they could claim it was Ethan’s ill–gotten gains. 

That way, they could solidify the charges of embezzlement and bribery against Ethan. After that, who would dare to support him? 

George, still cautious, asked, “Are you sure about this? We can’t have a repeat of that last time when the properties turned out to be for the families of the war heroes.” 

Stephen patted his chest in assurance. “Don’t worry. I’ve confirmed it this time. 

“Those houses are empty, except for the few people who occasionally go to maintain them.

Moreover, cars often pull up with people carrying several suitcases Inside, but they come out empty–handed. 

“Those suitcases must be filled with money.” 

George relaxed when he heard that. If suitcases were involved and no one was living there, it could only mean one thing: money! They could not possibly contain just clothes and other mundane objects. 

“Good. Time is of the essence. Gather the officials now and take action immediately.” 

Stephen nodded and went to make arrangements right away. The failed operation that morning had been a huge embarrassment for lin, and he needed to redeem himself quickly. 

George also told him to bring along those who had spoken up for Ethan earlier. It was a perfect opportunity to let these people know exactly what kind of person they were defending. They had even claimed that Riveria would surely perish without Ethan.
