Chapter 49 

Stephen then explained the situation in North Hill City, clarifying that the city was in chaos because the remaining forces that used to work under Ethan had decided to make their last stand and challenge the authorities. 

Fortunately, with the support of Lytton, the mayor, Shawn, and the police commander, Eric, were eliminating the remaining forces for good. Even though many businesses were forced to close down and investors had left the market, Stephen believed the investors would return as long as the city returned to normal. 

North Hill City was not the most advanced city in the country, but as a key part of Riveria, it had massive potential to grow. Anyone who left now would regret it later when they would have to fight tooth and nail to re–enter. 

After learning about the truth, George grunted coldly. “So it’s Ethan again. Hmph! To be pulling out these underhanded moves? I bet he’s getting desperate.” 

Stephen nodded in agreement. “He is. He wants to drag us down with him, but he has overestimated his strength and underestimated us.” 

George laughed. “When he finds out his plan has failed, I don’t think he’ll be able to sleep at night. I want to see him suffer.” 

Stephen smiled. “You will have the chance soon. The town of Lytton has performed well in this incident, and the town’s mayor, Brandon North, is a capable and talented man. 

“He grew up in North Hill City, and while all the other businesses and investors were ready to bail, he chose to stay and help Shawn and Eric to deal with the situation.” 

George looked surprised. “That is a dutiful and talented person.” 

“That’s why I am planning to reward him. I’ll see what I have,” Stephen said. 

He told his men to search for a suitable project, and they came across a proposal to develop a certain district. As for the one who proposed the project? It was Brandon himself. 

In the proposal, Brandon pointed out that the place they wanted to develop was a barren land next to Lytton. If the town were given control of it, it could generate significant economic growth for the city. Unfortunately, Ethan had shot down the proposal back when he was in power. 

The moment Stephen found out it was Ethan who declined the application, he ignored the 

reason. 

“Since Brandon wants this land for development, let’s just reward it to him. When the other developers see he is getting rewarded for staying, they would want to stay as well. 

“On top of that, when Lytton gets the rights to develop the land, they will thank us and

work harder to develop the city.” 

Stephen smirked. 

“And just like that, a perfect cycle is set in motion. With one move, I’ve achieved multiple goals.” 

George gave him a thumbs up. “It’s a brilliant move. You sure are Simon’s son. You’re truly outstanding!” 

Stephen was delighted. 

“Alright, you should get some rest. You’ve been busy for days now. I’ll take care of reporting this to the federal office,” George said.
