Chapter 54
Rachel frowned. She could not understand why than looked fine while in prison. In fact, he seemed healthier than ever, as if he was on vacation rather than serving time.
“Did you hear about the chaos in North Hill City” the reporter asked while the camera focused closely on Ethan’s face, hoping to capture a look of panic or guilt.
“Yes, I’ve heard about it,” he replied
He had seen it coming from a mile away. With him out of the picture, the town of Lytton would surely make a move. In addition to Stephen’s ‘genius‘ move of promoting Eric, it was no surprise that the city descended into chaos.
The reporter’s face twisted with disgust. “You really are despicable. First, you get caught for bribery and corruption, and now you want to take an entire city down with you?
“Do you have any idea how many families have been destroyed because of you? You should be executed ten times over, and it still won’t be enough!”
Stephen sat behind the reporter and looked at Ethan scornfully with a smirk. He was confident there was no way Ethan could come back from that.
Even if Ethan was the most eloquent person in the world, there was no way he could argue with facts. Moreover, no one trusted him anymore.
Thankfully, Mr. Quinn is here to lead us. He made Shawn Hill the mayor and put Eric Morningstar and Brandon North of the Lytton in charge to settle the problem. It was because of them that the city could overcome that crisis!
“People’s lives are coming back, and you will have to spend the rest of yours in here!”
The reporter then glanced over at Rachel.
“I heard you’ve been trying to date Ms. Lowe, but you never got the chance. It looks like she has made the right choice by being with Mr. Quinn instead of you!”
Rachel stepped forward and said, “That’s right, I always knew he wasn’t a good man. That’s why I reported him for his crimes.”
The reporter looked at her with gratitude. “Ms. Lowe, you have saved many people’s lives.”
With Ethan watching, Rachel walked over to Stephen and slipped her arms around his, smiling brightly.
The reporter turned back to Ethan and scoffed, “So now, you get to watch them live happily ever after, while you rot in here. Tell me, Ethan, what’s going through your mind right now? How does it feel? is it regret or hatred?

After a while, the reporters left. When they walked out of the room, Stephen looked at Ethan with a smirk and then hugged Rachel’s waist as a sign of provocation.
The room returned to silence.
Concerned about Ethan, Liam asked, “Mr. Rivers, are you alright? I believe you will never do anything like that. There must be some misunderstanding.”
He knew what Ethan had done for Riveria. The man had fixed the roads, built schools and hospitals, appreciated talented people, and increased the benefits for veterans.
