The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 568

"Laura, I'm getting old. Everything I have is meant for Nat and the others," Federrick said with a chuckle. "I won't be taking you in as my daughter. That brat, Marcus, is rich enough. You don't need to be thinking about my inheritance."

Laura froze for a moment, then quickly shook her head. "Mr. Langton, that's not what I meant. Wesley gave me plenty of money. I don't need yours.

"If anything, I'd rather give all my money to you, Nat, and the others.

"It's just…" Her voice choked up. "I don't have parents. I just wanted more family."

"No worries. I understand," Federrick said with a smile. "I was only joking. You don't have to treat me as your father. Consider The Herbalist's Sanctuary your home. I've taken in a lot of kids over the years, but I've never thought of any of them as my own children. They're just my little apprentices."

"Then… can I be your apprentice too?" Tears welled up in Laura's eyes. "Mr. Langton, you gave me a second chance at life. I really want to repay you."

"Laura, I don't see you as an outsider, and that's why I'm speaking honestly. You've already lost too much time in the first half of your life. From now on, you need to live for yourself.

"Don't waste your time feeling like you owe me just because I saved you.

"Besides, Marcus paid a hefty price for me to save you. Being grateful is a good thing, but there's no need to overdo it. Do you understand what I mean?"

Laura nodded through her tears. "I understand, Mr. Langton."

"Good. Now, go and live your life freely.

"Oh, by the way, Nat and Marcus are in Amberton right now, staying at Four Horizons Hotel. If you want to head back to Dithoria City, have Connie take you. But if you feel like exploring the city for a bit, go ahead and have some fun before heading back."

Laura thought for a moment, then nodded. "I think I'll go to the city center first and meet up with Marcus and Nat."

"Alright, then pack your things and head out early. Otherwise, you'll miss them."

Federrick stood up and turned to Connie. "Connie, I'm trusting you with this."

"Yes, Mr. Langton. I got it.

"Laura, let's get ready and head out," Connie said.

"Alright."

After packing up, Laura and Connie got in the car and set off for the city center in Amberton.

As the scenery outside the window blurred past them, Laura felt a rare sense of ease. It had been so long since she had taken a trip like this without worry.

The breeze smelled fresh, and the sights along the way were beautiful.

The Herbalist's Sanctuary was quite far from the city, so Connie drove for several hours before finally reaching the city.

"Laura, let's go straight to the hotel and find Nat and Mr. Holden. Then, we can grab dinner there. How does that sound?"

"I don't mind," Laura replied softly. "That sounds fine."

"Alright, then straight to the hotel it is."

Connie was familiar with Amberton and didn't need to use the navigation system. Soon, she pulled up to the entrance of Four Horizons Hotel.

After parking, she sent a message to Natalie.

Connie: Dr. Elim, I've brought Laura to your hotel. Are you guys here, or are you out handling business?
