The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus) novel Chapter 569

It was the execution day for Yvette, Kenton, and Lina a week later.

Early that morning, the authorities publicly announced the exact time and location of the execution. Those who wished to witness it were given specific routes and guidelines to reach the designated site.

During this time, Laura and Connie met up with Marcus and Natalie. Since Laura had spent most of the past few years confined indoors due to her illness, Natalie and Marcus took this opportunity to show her around Amberton.

In truth, it wasn't just to keep Laura company. It was also to give her and Marcus more time together.

Laura's presence was timely. Marcus had been struggling with grief. Having his mother by his side, even just for a while, brought him some comfort.

That morning, they all got up early. Connie had prepared rotten eggs and spoiled vegetables the day before, ready to throw at Yvette.

Laura wore a bright red dress, while Connie styled her hair and did her makeup. She was already breathtakingly beautiful, but with a little extra effort, she looked even more stunning.

Natalie stared at Laura for a long moment before shifting her gaze to Marcus. At that moment, she finally understood why Marcus' looks had always left her in awe.

With a mother this extraordinarily beautiful and a father as handsome as Wesley, there was no way their child wouldn't be striking.

"Nat, Marcus… Are you sure this outfit is okay?" Laura had worn white for years. She felt both dazzling and a little self-conscious wearing such a bold color after such a long time.

"Of course it is!" Natalie nodded enthusiastically. "Laura, I have so many gorgeous dresses. When we get back to Dithoria City, I'll give them all to you!"

Most mothers-in-law loved dressing up their daughters-in-law, but Natalie only wanted to make her mother-in-law look as beautiful as possible.

"Huh?" Laura was momentarily stunned. She turned to Marcus, who was already looking at her.

His dark, inky eyes suddenly welled up with tears.

"Marcus, what's wrong?" Seeing his red-rimmed eyes, Laura immediately panicked. "Are you feeling unwell? Tell me, and I'll take you to the hospital."

She still treated Marcus as a child, forgetting that he had long since grown into a man—an exceptional one, at that.

"Mom." Marcus reached out and pulled her into an embrace. "If it weren't for those monsters, you would have been living beautifully by my side all these years.

"Let's go to the execution. From now on, Nat and I will make sure you're always beautiful and happy. Alright?"

Hearing his sudden outpouring of emotion, Laura's eyes reddened. She wrapped her arms around him, her voice choked with emotion. "Okay. I'll listen to you and Nat."

If being happy and well-dressed would bring joy to her son and daughter-in-law, then she was more than willing to go along with it.

"Alright, let's go," Natalie said from the side. "If we don't hurry, we might not get a good spot."

"Mom, let's go."

"Yes, okay."

They left the hotel and followed the designated route, arriving quickly at the execution site—Scarlet Hill.

Scarlet Hill was the central hub of criminal operations and the largest base for the syndicate. Executing Yvette and the others there was the most fitting choice.

That day, Scarlet Hill was as crowded as ever, though the base of the mountain had been cleared out in preparation.

When the prisoner transport truck arrived, Yvette, Kenton, and Lina were led out with their hands and feet shackled. They were taken to the base of the mountain, where an angry crowd awaited.

As soon as an official blew the whistle, the spectators began hurling rotten eggs, spoiled vegetables, and even filthy socks at the condemned criminals.

"Kill them! Kill them! Kill them!"

"Shoot them! Shoot them! Shoot them!"
