“No, not at all!” Casimir denied, “How could you possibly think that?”

“What else then? I don’t believe you have the guts to call off your engagement with Waverly and marry me!” Raylee retorted carcastically,

“What if I told you I do have it?” Casimir supported himself with both hands on the hospital bed, leaning toward her. His dark eyes were firmly fixed on her face.

“Would you break off your engagement with Jeremiah and marry me?”

A sharp pang pierced through Raylee’s heart, as if the air around her was gradually igniting. His words seemed to possess a magnetic force, attracting all her hopes and dreams.

In that fleeting moment, she experienced a brief illusion, truly believing in Casimir’s sincerity.

In a moment of impulsive passion, she blurted out, “If you dare to call off your engagement with her now, I will marry you!”

Casimir hesitated slightly before saying, “We need to think this through carefully. A family alliance through marriage isn’t just my decision to make.”

“Heh…. This is the Casimir I know, mature and steady, weighing pros and cons, a clear–headed man.”

The harsh reality pulled Raylee back, she turned her face away, her delicate eyebrows knit tightly together.

As soon as Kaylee lifted her gaze, she found herself lost in Casimir’s eyes, as deep and mysterious as the ocean.

His eyes seemed to hold a burning flame.

But no matter how fiercely this fire burned, it couldn’t reach her heart anymore. She shrugged off his hand, a hint of mockery playing at the corners of her mouth.

After haring those words, Casimir’s handsome face turned beet red.

“ho you think I’m just playing around?” He said, somewhat annoyed. “We’ve known each other for so long, do I strike you as someone who takes relationships lightly?”

As her words faded. Vera’s caregiver rushed in hurriedly, her emotions running high. “Ms. Goodridge,” she exclaimed, “Old Mrs. Goodridge has awakened! She has been calling your name, insisting on seeing you!”
