The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 129

When I received the news, it felt as if all the strength had been drained from my body. I staggered a few steps and almost tripped over.

Fortunately, a passing nurse caught me in time and prevented the fall.

She looked at me with concern and asked, "Sir, are you alright?"

I waved my hand dismissively, then wiped the cold sweat off my forehead. With the nurse's help, I returned to the ward and sat down.

On the phone, Lana's primary physician, Jared Boone, tried to reassure me, saying, "Samuel, please calm down first. Although Lana's condition is critical, there's still hope. Her condition has stabilized temporarily, but it's still very dangerous…"

I didn't respond. My heart was pounding rapidly.

Lana was an orphan with almost no one else to rely on. As her only support, I was her last line of defense.

I must shoulder the responsibility of taking care of her. To me, Lana was just like my own sister. The thought of losing my sister again was unbearable.

I quickly gathered all my savings and transferred them to Dr. Boone without hesitation. As long as it could save Lana, I would do anything.

"Dr. Boone, that's all I have now. Let me know if you need more. I'll figure out how to get more."

I was a nervous wreck, and even my voice started shaking. I was afraid that he would tell me bad news about Lana. The despair I felt was exactly the same as back when I'd first received bad news regarding Kayla.

However, what Dr. Boone told me next shattered my last glimmer of hope.

"Samuel, it's not about the money. The problem is the lack of available specialists in the hospital. Lana's cerebral aneurysm has blocked her blood vessels and needs to be removed immediately.

"However, there are very few doctors in the country capable of performing this operation. If you could reach out to Nimbus Hospital, there might still be hope for Lana."

His words struck me like a bolt of lightning. I gripped the bedsheet tightly as if I could see the grim reaper approaching Lana, ready to take her life away at any moment.
