The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 133

Abigail's accusations hit me like a bucket of ice water, chilling my heart to its core.

Her scandal with Joshua had been the talk of the town for weeks.

Everyone who saw me couldn't resist throwing a jab my way, calling me a worthless excuse for a man. To them, I was a man whose wife had cheated on him, yet I still clung to her for the sake of money. To them, I was pathetic, spineless, and a man in name only.

Their mocking words pierced me deeply. All I could do was force a bitter smile and shake my head.

They didn't know the truth. I couldn't blame them. They were nothing more than strangers, people who had no right to hear my side of the story.

Abigail herself, the very person responsible for it all, stood before me. Her expression was ice-cold, as if she didn't already know who was truly at fault. And yet, she pinned all the blame on me.

She latched onto one minor mistake of mine and refused to let go. Her relentless attitude drained every ounce of strength I had left.

At that moment, I couldn't even summon the will to defend myself.

Seeing my silence, Abigail's lips curled into a sneer. She shook her head, her laughter dripping with mockery.

"Samuel, why aren't you saying anything?" she asked, her voice laced with venom. "Did I hit a sore spot? Are you feeling guilty?"

Her gaze was sharp as a blade as it locked onto mine. "Stop pretending, Samuel. If you want to be with Blair, then go ahead. But let me tell you something. Even if she does show interest in you, you're nothing more than a passing whim for her.

"A man like you doesn't belong in the Shepherd family. She's only with you for the novelty. Once the excitement fades, what will you be left with?"

Each word hit me like a dagger, cutting deeper and deeper into my heart.

I clenched my fists, my face dark and stormy. "Is that really how little you think of me?" I asked, my voice trembling.
