The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 201

I shook my head. He froze for a moment but didn't seem to care much.

"A hundred thousand dollars? You're not worth that, but I'll offer you that for Abigail's sake."

I shook my head again and replied coolly, "Not a hundred grand. It's... a million dollars."

The moment I said it, Joshua's jaw dropped. "What... What the hell did you just say? A million dollars? Are you out of your damn mind? Why don't you just go rob a bank?"

He glared at me, his face red with anger.

I smirked and asked, "What's the matter? That's my price. If you can't afford it, just say so."

"Samuel, you're unbelievable. I could pay any price, but a million bucks? That's enough to put a hit out on you, you know that?"

"Oh, I'd gladly take it. Why don't you try me?" I replied, extending my hand with a grin. "Go on. Let's see if you've got the guts."

"You..." He was so furious that he couldn't even finish his sentence.

"If you can't cough it up, then get lost. I don't have time for this nonsense."

I stepped closer and casually kicked his knees out from under him. For all his trash talk, he didn't dare to do anything a real man would. No, he just stood there, too busy maintaining his fake nice-guy image in front of everyone.

"Are you telling me to get lost? Fine! Samuel, you'd better watch your back!"

His face turned red, then pale, and after one last glare, he stormed out of my office. But I knew he wasn't going to let this slide. He'd definitely be plotting something.

I didn't have the energy to deal with his crap. Instead, I threw myself into my work. Not long after, though, my phone buzzed with a notification. I ignored it at first, but then the headline caught my eye.

"Joshua Levine Bullied by Rising Songwriter Samuel Gebb!"
