The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 259

George clearly disliked Abigail. Otherwise, he wouldn't refer to her as "that woman".

I managed a faint smile and explained softly, "She came to visit Lana."

"She did? This is the first time I've ever heard of her doing something so kind." George's surprise was evident. He shook his head, clicking his tongue with disbelief.

George knew all about what had happened with Kayla. Ever since that incident, his opinion of Abigail had been far from favorable. With the way she continually made things difficult for me, his disdain for her deepened even further.

Seeing Abigail in the hospital made George frown. His expression turned cold, and his tone became sharp.

I forced a weak smile and said gently, "She really has changed. Don't overthink it."

George let out a dry laugh, shaking his head. His voice dripped with skepticism. "Changed? Please. I wouldn't trust a single word out of her mouth. You're the only one foolish enough to fall for her lies."

I sighed helplessly. The damage was done, and the cracks between Abigail and me were irreparable like a shattered mirror that could never be pieced back together. The hurt she caused could never truly be undone.

George probably thought I was a fool for staying with Abigail. Maybe he was right. But how could I make him understand? Every time I tried to leave, Abigail tightened her grip… trapping me in a cage I couldn't escape.

"Just drop it. I don't want to talk about that woman anymore," George said, waving his hand as if brushing away a fly.

A flicker of irritation crossed his eyes as he scrutinized me carefully. Suddenly, his expression turned serious. "Samuel, have you been neglecting your rest again?"

I gave an awkward laugh.

"I've just been working a lot lately. Sometimes I lose track of time and end up staying up late," I said, brushing it off.
