The Marriage She Turned into War novel Chapter 354

Jane had always cared about me, and for that, I was deeply grateful.

The days in this house were tormenting, and I felt I couldn't hold on much longer. If it weren't for Jane's concern and care, I wasn't sure I would still be alive today.

Experiencing the world's coldness made me truly treasure the warmth of those who cared about me and those I held dear.

I lay in the room resting, unsure of how much time had passed when I suddenly heard a noise. Judging by the sound, it seemed Abigail had returned.

However, I had no intention of stepping out to check because I knew that what awaited me was a cold, expressionless face.

It would only lead to more of Abigail's relentless criticism and humiliation.

I couldn't bear her constant disdain and maltreatment any longer. All I wanted was a life of my own, one that didn't revolve around Abigail.

Then came a series of soft knocks on the door. Shortly after, I heard Abigail's voice calling out quietly from the other side.

"Samuel… it's me, Abigail."

I remained silent for a moment, refusing to respond.

Perhaps if Abigail hadn't told me it was her, I might have opened the door to check. But now that she had, all I felt was revulsion.

I didn't want to open the door. I didn't want to see the expression on her face. That face would only plunge me deeper into despair, into the endless abyss of her torment, a place I could never escape.

But in the next instant, the sound of a lock turning broke the silence.

Startled, I looked toward the door and saw Abigail walking in with the guest room key in her hand.
