The Masterpiece of Leaving:Prepared A Perfect Stand-In For Him novel Chapter 78

The sudden rush of that killing intent and the roaring motorcycle really startled me, and my face changed in an instant!

With a sharp look, I recognized the person on the motorcycle right away - it was Jared.

He wasn't even wearing a helmet.

His face was all contorted, with this cold and really menacing look in his eyes, and he was just twisting the motorcycle's accelerator, making that engine roar even louder!

He bared his teeth and charged towards me like he was out to run me over!

My gaze quickly shifted from his face and landed on his hands.

I noticed his hand twitching rather noticeably.

That subtle movement didn't escape my eyes, and I couldn't help but curl my lips slightly, already figuring something out.

In no time at all, Jared's motorcycle was getting closer, and he showed no signs of slowing down at all.

He probably thought I'd scream in fright and make a total fool of myself.

But I just calmly crossed my arms and watched him in a rather leisurely way, like I was playing with him or something.

Jared was clearly dumbfounded.

He'd come to pick a fight with me.

Last night, his mother, Violet, had said that Cathy would deal with me.

He'd been waiting eagerly all night, but nothing happened!

Frustrated with Cathy's unreliability and unable to hold back his anger, he decided to take matters into his own hands and come looking for me.

Even though he was acting all brash, he didn't actually have the guts to hit someone. This whole intimidating act was just meant to scare me.

Yet I didn't react the way he expected at all.

Jared must have felt so shocked and defeated.

As the motorcycle got really close, he didn't have the nerve to actually hit me.

Just when he was about to turn the motorcycle around, suddenly there was this loud bang, and it felt like his internal organs got all twisted from the impact!

When he finally came to his senses, he realized that a car had come out of nowhere and was now right between him and me.

Jared's motorcycle crashed straight into the other car's door, and that dilapidated motorcycle just shattered into several pieces in an instant.

The other car's door was dented too!

Jared was knocked down by the impact and was groaning in pain, struggling to get up for a while.

Just as he was about to get angry and say something, he looked up and saw the model of the other car, and his mouth just opened wide in an "O" shape.

He couldn't get a single word out!

A man in a suit got out of the car.

"Are you okay?" He asked me.

I looked up at him.

The man was in his twenties or thirties, with a square face and a really trendy hairstyle. His hair on top fell like bangs, while the lower part was neatly trimmed.

"I'm fine," I replied politely.

"Hey, you crashed into me!" On the ground, Jared rubbed his waist and complained, putting on this painful expression.

"You've damaged my person and my motorcycle. How are you going to compensate me?"

The man walked up to Jared and said, "Jared, if I didn't crash into you, you would have killed someone. Don't talk about compensation. Take this fifty dollars, buy some cigarettes, and leave."

"As for that broken motorcycle, it should have been scrapped long ago."

After hearing his words, Jared immediately backed off, took the money without saying a word, and then left.

I just silently watched the man's every move and was relieved to finally see Jared leaving.

"Don't worry, Jared is all talk and no action. He won't bother you again," the man walked back to me and said.

He had this smile in his eyes and was being really enthusiastic.

"Thank you," I said calmly.

Even though I didn't really need any help, I still thought it was right to express my gratitude.

"Navier, you're too polite to me." The man ruffled his hair and then, to my surprise, called me by my name.

I looked at him with a bit of shock, my gaze fixed on his face.

"I'm Jagger. We used to be classmates," the man introduced himself proactively.

I suddenly remembered that there was indeed such a person in my primary and middle school classes.
