The Night I Let Go novel Chapter 28

If Zachary's colleagues at Yel Corporation found out, it would be difficult for him to start his career subtly from the bottom.

"Are you saying I'm not as good as Ellen? In terms of body, looks, charm, and talent, what part of me is worse than hers?"

Anya started to tear up.

The sight of her pushing her chest out made Zachary lose focus for a moment.

Fearing that he might give in to temptation, he quickly looked away.

Anya pouted and said with grievance, "You'd rather flirt with her than admit that we're living together. Am I really that unattractive to you?"

Zachary hurriedly explained, "Stop making things up. Nothing is going on between me and her."

Anya scoffed. "Are you sure? You kissed her at the club and even shared the same bed with her. Your ex-wife caught you both in the act, and you're still denying it?"

Zachary's eyes widened. "You were following me?"

"I wasn't!" Anya's eyes flickered a hint of diffidence.

Zachary rubbed his forehead exasperatedly but still explained patiently, "That kiss you mentioned is nonsense. She forced it on me! And staying over at her place? That was because I was drunk, and she dragged me there!"

Anya's eyes lit up as she looked at Zachary. "So, nothing happened between you two? You're still… clean?"

"Why do you even care about that? It's none of your business!" Zachary shot Anya a glare.

Anya's phrasing of "still clean" sounded awkward to him.

For some reason, Anya instantly cheered up. She happily skipped to the dining table and sat down before digging into the food.

With a smile, she asked while eating, "Mr. Lloyd, didn't you say that you had something to discuss with me? You can tell me now. If it's something I can help with, I definitely will."

Zachary took a bite of his omelet and squinted. "I need detailed information on Jennings Corporation, including all their clients and business partners."

Anya was slightly stunned before she asked, "Are you planning to go after Jennings Corporation, Mr. Lloyd?"
