The Night I Let Go novel Chapter 34

Half an hour later, 12 people arrived at a high-end club near the restaurant.

Joseph went to request for a luxurious private room, while Ellen ordered five cases of beer.

Joseph frowned and said with exasperation, "Ellen, we've already drunk quite a bit at dinner. Let's skip the alcohol for now."

"Joseph, even if you don't drink, we will!" Ellen replied with a cheerful smile as she linked arms with Zachary and headed to the private room with the rest of the group.

Wendy and Ethan trailed at the back. Wendy gazed intently at Zachary while he pointedly ignored her.

Wendy was furious, but the setting kept her from lashing out.

Inside the room, everyone sang for over three hours.

By far, Ellen had the most fun. She requested seven songs, with six of them being romantic duets. She even insisted that Zachary sang each one with her.

Zachary loved singing. He had even taken professional singing lessons for a year. Although he wasn't as skilled as a professional singer, his voice easily outshone everyone else's in the room.

Ethan, who had planned to sing a few songs, promptly canceled his song selections after hearing Zachary sing.

While everyone had already taken turns singing, Ethan and Wendy had yet to sing a single song. They seemed like they were just there to make up the numbers.

In contrast, Ellen and Zachary had become the center of attention in the room. Every time they sang together, their classmates would whistle and cheer.

When it was 11:00 pm, Zachary prepared to leave. He was mindful of his promise to Anya to be home by midnight.

"You can go, but you need to sing one last song! After that, I'll let you go!"

Ellen, who had drunk quite a lot, clung to Zachary's arm with flushed cheeks.
