The Night I Let Go novel Chapter 39

Time flew by. When Zachary woke up, he was horrified to find himself sleeping on the bed in the master bedroom of the villa.

The master bedroom was Anya's room.

Zachary sat up and massaged his temples which were aching with his fingers as he scanned around.

The renovation style of the room was slightly luxurious. There weren't many things other than the vanity table needed by every woman.

There was a glass of water on the bedside table.

Under the glass was a sticky note.

Zachary grabbed the glass and gulped the water. Then, he took the sticky note and had a look.

"The breakfast is in the kitchen. I've kept it warm. You had too much to drink last night, so just take a break today. I'll apply for leave for you with the company."

On the sticky note was the neat handwriting that belonged to a woman.

There was even a smile emoticon below the words.

Zachary stood there in a daze, trying to recall what had happened the night before.

He couldn't remember anything from the night before no matter how hard he tried. Perhaps he had drunk too fast and gone unconscious.

Zachary got out of bed and freshened up himself before going downstairs.

Just like what had been written on the sticky note. There was breakfast prepared by Anya in the kitchen.

Zachary sat on the couch after having breakfast. Then, he grabbed his phone to search for the wild things people did when they got drunk.

20 minutes later, Zachary was slightly relieved.

According to the information on the Internet, a man couldn't have sexual intercourse when they were completely drunk.

"Thank goodness!" he muttered to himself.

Anya was pretty and capable. He wouldn't want to ruin the life of a kind woman only because he was drunk.

Just when he was relieved, a call from his mother-in-law, Fiona Lynch, came in.

Zachary hesitated for a while before pressing the answer button.

"Zachary, I heard that you've filed for a divorce."

As soon as the call was connected, Fiona's voice rang out. She sounded like she was blaming him.

Zachary didn't quibble and merely hummed in response.

"Zachary, do you really have to make things look this bad? I know I can't stop you from divorcing, but can you not bring this to court?" Fiona asked.
