The Night I Let Go novel Chapter 52

"I'm at…"

The alcohol kicked in just then, and Zachary felt rather woozy. As Ellen kept asking, he told her the address.

After they had eaten their fill, the rest of his colleagues began leaving one by one.

When Zachary left the restaurant, he saw Ellen waiting at the entrance.

She was wearing a white spaghetti-strap dress that fit her very well. Her snow-white shoulders and intricate collarbones were exposed, and it made her look very sexy.

When she saw Zachary coming out, her eyes lit up, and she clattered over on her high heels.

She took Zachary's arm and said in a slightly reproachful tone, "Why did you drink so much?"

"I'm alright! I didn't drink that much!" Zachary maintained the last vestige of his sobriety, and he grinned broadly at her as he answered.

Ellen rolled her eyes at him. "You didn't drink that much? You can't even walk steadily!"

"What do you mean?" Zachary was unwilling to admit it.

However, Ellen did not argue with him. She asked him where he lived and helped him all the way back to his rental home.

When he got back to his rental home, he leaned sideways and slumped on the couch.

He held a hand against his forehead and said tipsily, "Ellen, thank you for bringing me home. It's getting late. Y-You should head back soon!"

The front door banged shut.

Zachary thought that Ellen had left.

He propped himself up with difficulty to go back to his room, but when he looked up, he saw someone standing in front of him.

"Ellen? W-Why haven't you left yet?" Zachary looked fuzzily at Ellen, who was standing in front of him.

She said nothing.
