Just as Zachary wanted to say something, Charles had already hurried back into his office. Although he was walking, he was moving so fast that it was as if there was a man-eating beast behind him.
Zachary rubbed his nose speechlessly.
After packing his things up, he entered the elevator.
Then, he arrived at the marketing department on the 12th floor. There were way more people in this department. He could already spot at least a hundred people in the general area. Most importantly, there were several offices.
Zachary found his way to the manager's office. After stating his identity, the manager, Yasmine Lane, led him to his office.
At that moment, there were two employees cleaning the office. When they saw Yasmine and Zachary entering the office, they greeted them passionately.
"This will be your office from now on. I'll ask someone to send you the files for the department later. If you have any questions, feel free to approach me anytime."
Yasmine was almost 40 years old and looked ordinary. She was wearing black professional attire and seemed to have taken care of herself well. In fact, she didn't even look like she was in her thirties.
"Thank you!" Zachary smiled and nodded.
After Yasmine had left, he started putting his belongings in place. Shortly after he was done, an employee from the marketing department knocked on his door. Then, he entered the office with a tall stack of documents.
"Mr. Lloyd, here are the documents for the marketing department."
"Alright. Thank you. Just leave them on the table," Zachary said with a smile.
He thought he was being friendly and wasn't acting high and mighty like a stereotypical manager. However, that employee was cold toward him. In fact, when he looked at Zachary, there was obvious disdain in his eyes.
Zachary didn't take it to heart at all. After he opened one of the files, he started reading it. Since there were more documents for him to read, he would need at least a day or two to go through everything.
Soon, it was time to get off work. However, he was still going through the documents in his office. Suddenly, he remembered Molly. Thinking that she was still at home waiting to have dinner with him, he left the company with some documents.
When he left, he heard some gossip from his colleagues. The gossip was all about him, and they were more or less saying the same thing. Everyone was saying how he pulled some strings to get promoted.
Zachary was too lazy to explain himself. After all, he did pull some strings and took a shortcut. However, the strings he pulled were his own, and the shortcut was his as well!
