“I must say, a 50 billion bid is pretty tempting,” Samantha spoke up. “If you let Hunter Corporation win, you won’t have to spend another dime on this land. This deal is a sure thing, Finley. Don’t overthink it.”
Samantha’s words only seemed to make Finley more annoyed. It felt like she was really pushing for Noah’s company, and it was starting to get under his skin. He probed, “Are you backing Noah because of your past with him? Or do you still have feelings for him?”
Samantha rolled her eyes internally. It isn’t about lingering feelings; I just want to see Noah’s company go under. Why can’t Finley get that?
She looked at Finley and reassured him, “It’s–not–like that. I’ve moved on from Noah.”
Moved on? Finley wasn’t convinced. He stared at Samantha, then tossed Noah’s proposal into the rubbish bin and picked up a higher offer. He handed it to the general manager and announced, Let’s go with this
one.”
Samantha was taken aback. “Are you sure? Do you know what you’re passing up with Noah? I…”
She hesitated, glancing at the executives nearby. “I can’t explain everything with everyone around. You must trust me–I don’t have any feelings for Noah anymore. My heart is all yours.”
Finley was silent, considering her words, He then told the executives, “Everyone out.”
The executives exchanged puzzled looks before heading out. Once outside, the waiting crowd began grilling them for updates.
The executives were at a loss. Internally, they thought, The CEO has made his choice, but his girlfriend insists on letting Hunter Corporation win. Now, they’re locked in a heated discussion behind closed doors. How do we even explain this to the crowd?
All they could tell the crowd was, “Mr. Dean is still reviewing things. Please hang tight for a bit longer.”
