It wasn’t that she intended to hide anything; she just didn’t know how to tell him. After a moment of hesitation, she met Finley’s gaze and decided to share her suspicions. When she finished, Finley raised eyebrow. “If you want to know whether your theory is true, why not just investigate?” 

“You can investigate?” 

“What can’t I do?” he replied, continuing to apply the ointment. 

“Then, go ahead and check. I don’t want the police to arrest the wrong person.” 

Finley set the ointment aside. “Actually, the police might not be wrong, because even if he’s not the mastermind, he could still be an accomplice. The fact that he was willing to cooperate with Elain means their relationship is more than it seems.”
