Chapter 18 Emergency Room 

Nathaniel brought Ozzy and the rest to the outside of the emergency room of the hospital. They could see that Jacob was sitting at the end of the hall; his facial expression was tense, and his face was pale. 

Peyton was so anxious that she lingered nonstop in the hall, and she kept on wiping off her tears. 

They were taken by surprise by Nathaniel’s arrival. 

The emergency door was opened, and the surgeon walked out. 

“The patient is in critical condition; who is her family? Please come over and sign for her!” 

Everyone was stunned. None of them could sign for Freya on her behalf; it was so ironic for her. 

Peyton hurriedly volunteered herself by saying, “Doctor, let me do it!” I’ll sign!” 

“Are you a relative of the patient?” The surgeon was stunned and asked. He glanced over the several men in the hall, and he fixed his gaze on Peyton. 

I’m not; I’m just her friend! Let me sign for her, please.” 

“Don’t you fool around! It’s a very serious surgery; if anything happens to the patient, her family members should be the ones responsible for her.” The doctor reprimanded her. 

Peyton held the surgeon’s arm, and she cried, “Doctor. I’m begging you… Her father died, and her mother is in a coma. Please! Please do the surgery for her now!” 

“I’m her friend; I’ll take full responsibility! Let me sign it, please! Please allow me to… Please save her! She really has no one.” Peyton suddenly knelt down to the surgeon. 

“H… Hey! What are you doing? W… Wait! It’s not that I allow it or not… It’s that. Please get up.” The surgeon panicked. 

Peyton’s words made Nathaniel and Jacob’s faces change; they felt weird hearing them. Nathaniel walked up to the surgeon and said, “Doctor, I’m Nathaniel. I’ll be responsible for Ms. Gomez’s surgery,” 

There was a dead silence in the hall. 

“Mr. Morgan?” The surgeon finally recognized him; after all, he was always in the news and on television programs. He was in a daze. Who is the woman inside the emergency room? Why is Mr. Morgan here for her? 

Ozzy, who was standing behind Nathaniel, walked to the side with the doctor to deal with all the procedures, and Nathaniel called the director of the hospital to request that Ozzy perform the surgery. He signed the declaration letter. 

It might not be fully obeying the rules and regulations, but a life costs more than this. 

Ozzy changed his clothes and entered the operating room. Peyton lost all her strength and sat on the ground. Koen helped her up to sit on the chair.

Peyton was crying and grabbing on the corner of Koen’s sleeve subconsciously. And Koen stood there awkwardly without withdrawing his hand from her. 

Jacob and Nathaniel were sitting side by side on the other end; both of them remained silent. 

Nathaniel panicked to the extent of losing his mind, he was crossing his hands, and he tightened and loosened his grip from time to time. 

The red light of the emergency room was making him nervous; his heart was beating irregularly, so he hurriedly touched his chest. 

“Nat!” Jacob suddenly called him. He was stunned as Jacob barely addressed him in this way. 

Jacob did not look at him; he only stared at his shaky hands. “Nat, we’ve been–best friends for a long time, right?” 

Nathantel frowned upon hearing his words, and he remained silent. 

Jacob took a deep breath and said, “I want to plead for Freya.” 

Nathaniel clenched his fists upon hearing his words. 

Jacob continued to say, “Kilian was indeed cruel in doing what he had done to the Morgan family; he was inhumane. 

“But… But, after all these years, isn’t our revenge on the Gomez family more than enough?” 

“Can you please let her go?” 

“For my sake?” 

“What do you mean?” Nathaniel’s heart was aching even more, and he gritted his teeth. 

Jacob chuckled lightly and said, “Nat, I know you’re not a bad man, but whatever you did tonight was 

too much.” 

Nathaniel turned and looked at his face coldly. 

And Jacob also looked right back at him. “It’s an attempted murder; don’t you know about it?” 

“Someone almost killed her tonight; the pickup truck was suspicious to begin with. The driver hit and ran, and it happened in a location without a security camera, 

“If I didn’t come across it, we wouldn’t even have to wait for her here! She would be in the morgue already! 

“Nat, I’ve never begged you for anything. Please, just this once… let her go, please.” 

“She’s… so pitiful.” 

Nathaniel’s heart beat rapidly, and he glared at Jacob Do you think that I’m the one behind this incident?”

Nathaniel sneered. “Jacob Rivera, don’t you think that you’re asking too much tonight? 

Jacob was sincere when he asked, “Nat, you’re in love with Abigail now, right?” 

Sorry for ruining your engagement day, I’ll compensate for all the losses” 

“Let’s find another date, and I’ll personally arrange the engagement ceremony for you.” 

Jacob, you’re overstepping. Nathaniel stopped him from talking more. 

Jacob lowered his head and smiled; he asked in a serious tone, “Nat, since you don’t love her anymore, can I go after her?”
