Chapter 218 Visiting The Dead 

Other people were unaware of the incident, but his right–hand men knew everything. Those who did not know were actually better off, because the ones who knew about it felt sinful. Unexpectedly, Freya was pregnant with Mr. Nathaniel’s child, and it went so wrong in jail. Their fates were entangled in a never–ending way. 

The cemetery was quiet, and the rain poured from the sky. Nathaniel wore a black windbreaker, while Freya wore a beige dress with a white sweater. The two of them looked very upset; Freya was holding the umbrella as she watched Nathaniel crouched down in front of a nameless, plain- looking grave, without any inscriptions carved onto its face. This only made the deceased fetus. look even more depressing. 

The rain was getting heavier, and a big part of Nathaniel’s windbreaker was drenched. But that did not bother him at all. Apparently, he did not think of the consequences of soaking in the rain. after a heart attack. He sat down and carefully put the flowers in front of the gravestone. He then used his sleeve to wipe off the rain stains on the gravestone. 

“My son, I’m sorry! I failed to take care of you!” His voice sounded hoarse due to the rain. 

“You…” he paused, and he said something to the buried child, or maybe it was meant for Freya. He took a deep breath and said, “I’ll make sure to discover the truth for you, so you can rest in peace!”

Freya pursed her lips and her face darkened after hearing his speech. She did not know what he was up to. Could it be that he did not plan for my closest–to–death experience in prison? He had treated me as a tool to take revenge on the Gomezs, so it’s logical if he didn’t want me to be pregnant with his child. However, it was ridiculous for Freya to hear him say that he loved the baby. 

If Nathaniel really did not plan the incident, it was still undeniable that he planned a scandal to take down the Gomez family. And he even accused her of hurting Abigail just to put her in jail. He was the sole reason providing those devils a chance to sin. So, he had no right to love this child. He disgusted her! She looked calm when she stared at Nathaniel, who was in front of her. 

He slowly got up and picked up the umbrella at the side, and then he looked at Freya. He frowned when he realized that Freya’s face looked even paler in this cold rain. He wanted to explain to her that he did not grant anyone permission to do the abortion. However, he just could. not bring himself to say it. Deep down, he knew that he was indirectly the murderer of his own child. 

At that moment, he could feel some pain in his chest. He composed himself and said to Freya, “Let’s head back.” 

Freya followed him from the back to walk to the graveyard entrance. She could not hold back the urge to turn back and look at her child’s gravestone. At last, she suppressed the overwhelming despair and left.
