Killian grew up with Nathaniel’s father, Zander. She only found out about this while being curious when she saw her father looking through some old photographs from his orphanage. However, even so, her father seemed unwilling to talk about it, even though he adored his daughter. He was unwilling to talk about anything related to the orphanage. Let alone Nathaniel’s mother, Valeria. The only memory she had of her was the photograph that fell out of the book when she bumped into it by accident.
he had already begun schooling, so she knew what she was supposed to ask, and what she was not supposed to.
Freya remembered that it was during her summer break that year. Her father suddenly suggested that he wanted to bring her and her mother to have a vacation abroad. Apparently, they went to Mypos for a week, but her father would always leave their hotel in a hurry everyday before returning to them late at night. He claimed to want to have fun with them, but he ended up going out alone. She also remembered how her parents had an ugly fight about it at the hotel. Freya always thought her mother was a gentle and kind person. She thought that she would face any challenges elegantly, but she saw her father screaming her lungs out and slapping her father through the cracks underneath the door. However, they seemed to have reconciled while they were on their return trip on a cruise ship. But, she remembered how poorly her father was doing as he would spend his days getting drunk and breaking down in cruise’s bar.
Freya was unable to catch her breath as she clutched onto the picture. She somehow felt that both her family and the Morgan family’s ties were not as simple as it seemed. Nathaniel claimed that her father had harmed his father. He said that her father was set up as his private jet had a malfunction, while his mother perished in the red light district. But, Freya did not think that the whole ordeal was that simple. Nathaniel resented her father and there were a lot of things that she could not change his mind on, so she had to investigate those terrifying truths. She decided that she would get to the bottom of this even if it cost her her life.
So, she kept the book in her bag before getting up from her father’s chair. She remembered playing on that chair as a child. Somehow, the familiar scenery seemed so distant to her then. Her father would carry her off the chair when her father found out about it, so he allowed her to sit next to him as he told her stories. Although her father never went to a university, he was a brilliant man. He was able to invest in that plot of land near Vanara at the most perfect timing with his friend, Zander. They did everything from applying for loans, supervising work, and drinking their guts out with their client to finally develop that piece of land to the masterpiece it was. They became young entrepreneurs overnight. Her father even invested in technology while everyone thought that the virtual world would be a distant future for them. They felt that her father was mad to take such a risk, but it turned out that he made a lot of money in a few years. While others were following his footsteps, her father focused on other projects.
It did not take long for his company to be a corporate powerhouse, but he would never expect that her family would perish in the hands of his daughter and future daughter–in–law. Freya crossed her fingers while she got lost in her mind. As the sun was starting to set, Freya sat alone in the dark. She could not imagine how her usually strong and kind father would be forced to jump
