Peyton was acutely aware that she and Freya were to blame, so she harbored no resentment. Furthermore, – after surviving a near–death experience, her demeanor had softened somewhat..
She made amends and apologized to the customers. Once everything was settled, she headed to the underground boxing ring that Freya had mentioned.
This had been her routine for the past few days, yet she had not come across Ares. However, he finally responded to her the previous evening
Peyton assisted Freya in walking to the hospital’s flower bed, where they sat on a bench when fatigue set in.
Their conversation was casual, mostly discussing family matters. Despite this, the two bodyguards dispatched by Nathaniel were practically glued to their sides.
Freya frowned and subtly signaled to Peyton. Understanding the hint, Peyton accompanied Freya to the restroom on the ground floor of the inpatient ward.
The two bodyguards attempted to follow, only to be rebuked by Peyton.
“Why are you two tailing us? This is a women’s restroom! If you persist, I’ll report you to the police!”
Peyton’s voice echoed through the corridor. Her outburst left the two bodyguards red–faced, attracting the attention and whispers of bystanders.
With a dismissive snort, Peyton led Freya into the restroom.
At midday, the lobby on the ground floor was deserted.
Freya and Peyton stood by the sink, washing their hands under the running water. The sound of the water drowned out their conversation.
“Fay, I received a message from Ares yesterday
“Did you see him?” Freya’s eyes widened in surprise.
Peyton glanced around before whispering, “I didn’t see him, but someone relayed my message to him. I told him we were seeking him out regarding Nathaniel and the Gomez family’s issue. Ares wants to meet you at the underground boxing ring next Sunday night. He requested you to come in person.”
Freya’s brow furrowed slightly. She understood that any shrewd person wouldn’t commit to anything based solely on Peyton’s word.
Ares‘
request to meet Freya was logical. He wanted to negotiate with her and secure some advantages. She had nothing to offer. She had exhausted all her resources in her duel with Nathaniel three years ago. Her final trump card was herself,
“Fay,” Peyton glanced at the door, “you’ll be discharged from the hospital next week, but those two outside are keeping an eye on you. How do you plan to meet Ares?”

As she observed the water forming rivulets along the countertop, an idea sparked in her mind.
Freya turned to Peyton. “Peyton, I have a plan.
