The Proud Boss Lady. novel Chapter 42

Nichole, Deven and Val touched down in Jersey City. They had checked out from the airport and ordered for a Uber to take them home. Some year's back, Nichole would have thought twice about coming back, but now. She felt glad coming back, her past behind her and she had made a name for herself, a wonderful friend and the love of her life.

Don't tell him I said that.

" Your city is beautiful, " Deven broke her from her self induced trance.

"Yes, it is, thank God it's summer, I'm tired of the cold." Val voiced out making them laugh.

The house was bussing with invited guests. Maids running up and down to help with the luggage. Nicolette attending to guests thanking them for honouring her invitation. Jesse sat on the vouch taking a break from all that stress. He couldn't wait to get married and enjoy his wife to himself.

Nichole, Deven and Val got off the uber. Val stood wowed by the size of her house. The maids hurried to them and helped with their luggage.

" Where's the bride to be?" she asked one of them.

" She's over there with her groom to be," the maid pointed taking the luggage upstairs.

" Hey, You!" she called after her sister. Both Nicolette and Jesse turned to look at who had called.

"Nichole?" her sister said shocked as she run to hug her. She had changed from the last time she saw her. She looked gorgeous and was glowing.

" Hey bride to be," she hugged her back.

" Meet my baby, Deven and my best friend Val. Val, Deven my photocopy." she introduced as Jesse walked towards his fiance putting his arms around her waist.

" It's nice to meet you, thanks for coming," Nicolette said.

" My pleasure, I couldn't let my sweetheart come all alone, " he pecked her on the lips.

"Can we go in?" Nicolette suggested.

" Can I talk to you, Nichole?" Jesse asked. Nichole nodded assuring the rest it was fine as they went ahead.

"How may I help you?" she asked.

" I see you've moved on fast," he added.

" Oh no, you did even before I did and I'm glad you did. You both deserve each other." she put.

" Y-yeah, we do. Thanks for coming though. It was nice seeing you," he said.

" I wouldn't miss my sister's wedding for anything in the world," she said walking away from him.

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

" How come you never told us Zayn Huxley was your neighbour?" Lauren asked spying through Amelia's window.

" Come on guys, how was I supposed to know? That apartment has been occupied by Miss Naomi, a young woman," she explained.

" So how come he's there now?" Rita asked quizzically.

" Turns out Ms Naomi is his big sister and he's moved in with her after her trying for so long for him to come live with her," she explained.

" Or he moved in cause of a certain someone." they both said.

"Whatever, be like that." she tried not to smile.

" Awww, she's blushing," Lauren teased.

" Can you guys stop?'" she said.

" No, no can't do," Rita added.

" I've been meaning to ask, why does Cody shoot daggers at you and Zayn each time he sees you?' Rita asked again.

" He's probably jealous," both Amelia and Lauren said.

" Jinx, you owe me a drink." Amelia stuck out her tongue.

" That's weird, I thought he didn't want you, so what's his problem now?" Rita inquired.

" I guess he thought I was going to drool over him forever, and no one would like me," Amelia explained.

" Soraya, I equally have work to do. Be reasonable for once!" Zed fumed.

" Don't you dare raise your voice at me or----

" Or what Soraya? I've seen it all. So can you just stop? I've known you for years and studied you. It doesn't harm you to be nice for once, the world doesn't revolve around you." he walked out of the bedroom towards the door.

" Zed, Zed!, Zed!! get your ass back here this minute," she ordered.

" Who do you think I am? A dog. I'm a grown man Soraya, I now own a chain of restaurants. I'm not your errand boy no more. I need me some respect, get that!" He shouted at her as he headed towards his Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE 2021 model motorcycle. He roared the engine to life and sped off.

" Urgh, men and their ego." she rubbed her face with her hand.

You need to learn to respect men before you end up in a roman sister seminary after no one wants to marry your rude ass. Her conscience scolded.

Bitch please, I'm Soraya, I can get who I want. She clapped back.

Yeah right, remember the rich man you met in the Maldives?

Noah?

And Zed again? her conscience reminded.

They left because they wanted to, not my fault. she bragged.
