Chapter 140

This hotel had a lot of guests on the eve of Easter. Almost all of them were wealthy. The standards were extremely high, matching fivestar service

When Evelyn and Deborah arrived, a staff member immediately came forward to help them with their simple luggage

Deborah had spent nearly every Easter in recent years at the hospital with Leonard. This year, it was race for the family to be together

Her expression was joyful as she said, The air here is great. Spending Easter with so many people around is rather refreshing ”

Evelyn, pushing Leonard’s wheelchair, smiled faintly at her words, It’s great as long as you like it. Cranny, your and Uncle Lenny’s rooms are next to mine.Aren’t there several rooms in a suite? Why aren’t we staying together?asked Leonard

Evelyn smiled and replied vaguely, I might have to join an online meeting with Seb later. I’d disturb you, so I booked two rooms.”

Her bag contained all sorts of targeted medications. Leonard had been ill for years and was very sensitive to those drugs, so she wanted to avoid being discovered

Easter dimmer needed to be arranged with the hotel in advance. As such, after Evelyn settled Deborah and Leonard in, she went downstairs

After discussing the arrangements with the manager, she was about to take the elevator. However, just as she approached it, she saw Jason nearby on the phone. He saw her from the comer of his eye and immediately stared at her before nodding at her in greeting

Evelyn, slightly surprised, walked over

She glanced at the elevator. He had already pressed the button, so she simply stood quietly, waiting

She stared idly at the numbers changing on the floor display

Jason said into his phone, It’s a newly developed area. The environment is great, but there probably aren’t any rooms left tonight.”

On the other end, Mason gmaned miserably. If I’d known, I would’ve gone too. My grandpa chewed me out the moment I got back it was brutal. You have no idea

Jason hummed in reply

Why don’t I come find you now? I’ll crash in your room,Mason suggested eagerly

The elevator doors opened with a ding

Evelyn stepped in first. Seeing that Jason was still on the phone, she asked politely, Are you going up?”

Jason looked at her right away. Yes,”

He stepped inside

Mason suddenly tensed up on the other end of the line. He sat straight as he grasped his phone and asked, Is that a woman? You’re voice sounds really nice!”

He sensed something fishy

Jason glanced at Evelyn, who stood in front of him. Her expression was calm and distant. He pursed his lips and replied, You heard wrong. That’s enoughthere’s -no signal in the elevator. I’m hanging up.”
