The Queen Returns—And She’s Unforgiving novel Chapter 157

Evelyn could never mistake that ring.

It was the heirloom ring that Deborah had given to her mother, Naomi, back in the day. At the time, Naomi wore it as her wedding ring. Later, when the Harrisons ran into financial difficulties, Derek sold the ring to raise funds for the company.

Naomi had been heartbroken over it for a long time.

Derek had never discussed it with her. By the time Naomi found out the ring was gone, it was already too late—there was no way to trace it anymore.

Even after their relationship eventually fell apart, neither of them had been able to let it go.

Deborah was unwilling to bring it up. Even so, Evelyn knew that, deep down, Deborah never let it go.

She never imagined that after so many years, she would see it again at a charity gala. What belonged to the Reeds would never be truly lost.

Even Justine had noticed the sharp shift in Evelyn's mood.

A faint mist clouded Evelyn's eyes, and the hand holding the bidding paddle trembled slightly. The moment the auctioneer's voice fell, she wanted to raise her paddle. However, Evelyn didn't have the chance to speak.

A hand rose from the front row. "15 million."

Evelyn turned in surprise.

Tiffany smiled elegantly as she looked at the item on stage with a determined expression.

She gently leaned toward Lucas, saying, "This ring is very finely crafted. Antiques from decades or even centuries ago are extraordinary. The craftsmanship today cannot compare."

Lucas glanced at the enlarged image on the screen and paused. "Bid for it if you like it."

Tiffany smiled softly. "Alright."

Evelyn didn't miss the two of them whispering to each other.

Her lips pressed into a tight line. Though she didn't know what Lucas had said, she had an ominous feeling about it.

Evelyn steadied herself and spoke up, "16 million!"
