Sebastian's expression made it seem like he had no ulterior motives. It was as if he were simply following the flow of the conversation.
Tiffany frowned subtly. She could not understand why Sebastian was so protective of Evelyn, not allowing others to speak the truth about her.
Now, he was turning the spotlight on her and Lucas. What was he trying to achieve with this?
Brandon looked at the two. Given how close Lucas and Tiffany had been, they were probably headed toward marriage.
"Mr. Grant, has it been made official yet? I'm sure your family is pleased with Ms. Moore," Sebastian said with sincerity.
Evelyn kept silent. She knew Sebastian could not bear seeing her wronged and wanted to return the favor.
After all, Maria only acknowledged Evelyn as her granddaughter-in-law. If not, Lucas would not have needed to sign that kind of divorce agreement with her.
Sebastian exclaimed again, "Wait, she hasn't met your family yet? How come?"
Brandon was also taken aback. Tiffany was excellent in every way, and their relationship was stable too. By all logic, they should have already made it official.
Tiffany looked up at Lucas and pressed her lips together without responding.
Lucas remained unfazed and offered an indifferent smile. "That's a private matter. Still, thank you for your concern, Mr. Hill."
He did not intend to explain any further. Sebastian's remarks left no marks on him.
Only then did Sebastian lower his smirk a little.
Lucas was deliberately protecting Tiffany's image! He would not allow even the slightest suspicion that Tiffany had come between a marriage to surface.
Evelyn was not interested in their conversation because she knew that one day, Lucas would introduce Tiffany to his family regardless. That was his own business.
She turned to Sebastian and said, "You guys can continue. I'll head back first."
Most of the people here had already exchanged greetings. Today was just the introductory phase, and the actual tour would take place over the next few days.
Evelyn left without bothering about how the rest of the reception went.
When Quint stepped out of the crowd, hoping to find Evelyn to continue their earlier discussion, she was already gone.
He was a little disappointed. He had a feeling that Evelyn would have given him deep insights on the topic.
Evelyn did not slack off when she got back to her room. She and Sebastian would be in Pearlia for three days, so she brought some books to read in her free time.
She had no idea what time the reception ended.
…
The next day, the base sent cars to pick everyone up.
