The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving novel Chapter 261

"Everything's fine." Evelyn didn't say much. Some things couldn't be resolved by caring too much, especially when she already knew what kind of answer Maria wanted.

Maria hesitated for a moment.

In the end, she lowered her voice and mentioned, "Don't worry, Evie. I'll never have you feel wronged. If anything makes you unhappy, just tell me. I'll handle it for you. The Grants only recognize you as our in-law."

Evelyn understood what she was implying. Maria was trying to reassure her, but was also stating her position. Some matters truly couldn't be discussed openly.

Evelyn lowered her gaze, her expression calm. "Thank you, Grandma."

Because of the agreement, she couldn't tell Maria about the divorce. She could only respond vaguely.

At the very least, this was something she had promised Lucas, and she would respect it.

Maria then asked whether she was at the hospital.

Evelyn told the truth that she was there in the morning. Only then did Maria seem at ease.

After hanging up, Evelyn rubbed her brows. She didn't know how Lucas intended to explain Tiffany's situation to Maria. However, Maria was a sharp person. She would arrange for someone to investigate now that she sensed Tiffany's presence.

Eventually, she would find out just how far Lucas had gone for Tiffany.

Not only did Tiffany have free rein at Bluezen, but she was also preparing to launch Arrowpoint Solutions. With that in mind, how could the relationship possibly be platonic?

However, that was Lucas' problem to handle. Given how protective he was of Tiffany, he would surely come up with a way to smooth things over.

Evelyn didn't dwell on it any further and got up to make lunch.

It wasn't until now that she truly felt she was living for herself for the first time. All her time and energy were invested in her own life. She enjoyed this seemingly plain but fulfilling way of living, instead of just orbiting someone else, constantly yielding and sacrificing.
