The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving novel Chapter 70

What happened last night made Evelyn feel like she had the sword of Damocles hanging over her head. She could not rest easy. She kept feeling that the matter was not over.

After she gave it a deep thought, she decided to take the initiative to resolve it.

Evelyn gave Lucas a call, but he seemed to be busy with something and did not pick up. Perhaps he was deliberately not answering her call.

Evelyn did not care about what was the reason anymore. She simply headed straight to Bluezen.

She had been working at Bluezen for three years, after all, so the receptionist knew her. Evelyn called Michael, but he said indifferently, "Mr. Grant's busy. You'll have to wait for a while, Ms. Reed."

Evelyn went upstairs to the reception room.

Michael saw Evelyn, but he did not walk over to greet her. He simply turned around and went about his business.

The others at the secretariat, however, were very familiar with Evelyn.

In the past, Evelyn wanted to get to know more about Lucas, so she made friends with them. They had shared conversations over meals, and Evelyn found out a lot about him.

They were quite happy to see Evelyn.

After they exchanged pleasantries, one of them said, "Ms. Reed, you're going to have to wait for a while. Mr. Grant has an important guest in his office."

"That's not an important guest. That's the apple of Mr. Grant's eye."

Evelyn figured that the person was Tiffany.

In other words, it was not because Lucas was occupied with work that he was not meeting her. Instead, it was because he was keeping Tiffany company that he kept her waiting.

"Ms. Moore is so lucky. She's practically being treated like Mr. Grant's wife in our company right now. She's able to come in and out as she wishes without any restrictions. She can just head into Mr. Grant's office as she pleases. Also, I heard that her lipstick was all messed up when she came out of the office yesterday!"

"Oh my gosh! They got freaky in the office?"

Evelyn listened to all that with a numb feeling. It was as if she was an outsider.
