"Exactly!" Henry had been struggling with how to continue, but Steven's question gave him the perfect opportunity to pick up the thread. "After those two got out, they kept trying to make a comeback. They're clearly not stupid.

Steven grinned and said, "If I were to call Zane right now and inform him about his first love's situation, do you think he'd panic?"

Henry wasn't sure, but he played along. "Probably."

After hanging up, Steven transferred a sum of money to Henry as a reward. Then, he leaned back into the sofa.

Zane had always said that he only loved Annalise and had no other women. However, the truth proved otherwise.

Steven could hardly wait to see Zane panic and rush to his first love to help her. And when that happened, he would be right next to Annalise, saying, "See? All men are the same. Even Zane, the man you trust most, is no better than me.

"But you can rest assured—I've already learned my lesson. So if you're willing to be with me, I'll do my best to treat you well and promise never to hurt you again."

Steven was certain that once Annalise saw Zane and his first love's complicated relationship, she would finally give up on him. And then, she would come back to Steven.
