Madeline glanced over at the Larson family. Winslet was spaced out, worried that Madeline would steal the spotlight and she’d become just a side character Layla looked torn, not sure which side to take. Thomas was full of regret. Sharon smiled with confidence and sighed, “Mr. Perry is really impressive. Under his keen eye, any fake jewels would be exposed for what they are. If he examines this sapphire, ius real value will be clear.”

I’m not that childish. She added with a smirk, “You’re from a small place, so it’s normal for you to be a bit immature.” 

Sharon’s words dripped with disdain. “But if I actually argue with you and it gets back to Japrium, it would damage my reputation. Besides, she knew the sapphire was fake. She had absolutely no time to waste on Madeline’s nonsense. 

Sharon withdrew all her previous compliments to Madeline. She thought, ‘Madeline is really foolish. To put it bluntly, it is stupid for Madeline to compare herself to me. Where did she get the confidence to challenge me! If it weren’t for the meeting about the arranged marriage, Madeline would never have had a chance to speak to me in this lifetime. 

Winslet couldn’t help feeling happy inside. Madeline really didn’t understand her place. “Maddie, Aunt Sharon is still your elder. Talking like that is disrespectful. You should be polite and show your respect to your elders” 

Sharon nodded with satisfaction, emphasizing the generational difference between her and Madeline. 

“If you don’t want to bet, then let’s drop it. Madeline leaned forward, meeting Sharon’s gaze. Her long hair cascaded down her back over a black dress, making her look like an elegant swan. Under Gavin’s protection, she was like a precious and delicate swan 

Her eyes twinkled with playful mischief. “Do you think just because you’re from Japriüm, you’re sornehow superior? I really dislike that arrogant expression of yours. In the Larson family, you’re just a fringe character. You can merely show off in front of Thomas and the others. Sometimes, when you keep fooling yourself, you might actually start to believe you’re an important figure” Madeline smiled sweetly, her eyes forming crescents. “It’s best not to brainwash yourself like that” 

Madeline’s words hit straight to the point, giving Sharon no room for dignity. It was like a slap in Sharon’s face, leaving her shocked and unable to 

CDCL. 

The Larson family was taken aback. Madeline was usually so quiet, almost never speaking, like a mute. This time, she said a lot, and it was all in direct defiance. 

Layla’s face turned pale, realizing it was over, Madeline had completely offended Sharon, and their family was certainly going to bear the brunt. Gavin wrapped his arm around Madeline’s shoulder, burying his head in her neck. His shoulders were shaking with soft laughter. He patted her shoulder repeatedly, implying that what she said was just perfect. “Maddie, you should talk more often. I love hearing it.”

Sharon gritted her teeth. “Acting impulsively and saying things you can’t back up, you should really consider what consequences you’ll face. Do you think.. a man can support you? What a narrow–minded view,” 

Actually, Madeline wasn’t wrong. Sharon was just Ruth’s assistant, so she had some status in the Larson family. Truly powerful people wouldn’t take her seriously. Even if they were polite, it was just an act. But Sharon didn’t see it that way, 

then it’s surely reliable.” 

Cavin nodded in agreement. “You’re right. Depending on a man might not be reliable, but if Maddie is counting on m Charles and Brunswick realized from Thomas’s words that one side was Gavin and the other was Sharon, a socialite from the Larson family un Japrium.

Sharon snorted. What a performance. Perhaps these two might just be hired actors.
