Chapter 179
The Larson family was one of the Top Ten Families in the capital. The family was unquestionably worth billions of dollars. The family had four sons, and based on property distribution, Thomas had enough money to last a lifetime.
Conner, however, forced Thomas to leave the capital to seize complete control of the family property. He was now much more reluctant to help Thomas and even humiliated him with a few hundred dollars.
Over 20 green banknotes were spread on the ground, causing disaster for Thomas. His face w
was pale, and he heard people talking about him.
An onlooker asked, “Who is he? A beggar? Is he here to ask for money?”
Another said. “Don’t you know Mr. Conner Larson’s background! It’s odd for him to be bothered by someone like this.”
A bystander stated, “Don’t you know? I had an impression of him. He’s Thomas, the third son of the Larson family. When he was young, he traveled out of town to develop his career. He must be doing poorly outside and now returns, hoping to sponge on them.”
Another onlooker replied, “Alas, Conner’s now the head of the Larson family. He won’t help such a poor relative. As stated, help the starving but not the poor. A poor man like him would never get back on his feet. It’s pointless to aid him!
The discussion was disjointed, but the majority of it was mocking Thomas. They regarded him with contempt, suspicion, nuisance, and mockery. Someone even threatened to reach security to find out how someone like him could get in.
Thomas gritted his teeth in embarrassment, his eyes filled with shame and wrath.
Vanessa crossed her arms about her chest, saying arrogantly, “Dad, such a poor relative will go to any length for money. What a disgrace. Hurry and urge security to chase him out, or well be laughed at.”
She wrinkled her nose and poured, pretending to be cute. “Mom, if my classmates and friends see it, they’ll talk about me behind my back.” She then patted her garments in disdain fearing that Thomas might stain them.
Tiana believed her daughter, Vanessa, wasn’t bad, but she was more frank. She mumbled. “Thomas, Vanessa’s words are harsh, but she’s right.”
She added, “Although we’re close relatives, our current status is different. We haven’t seen each other in years. If you come here and demand an outrageous amount, no one can afford to provide you with that much money. If you truly need money, I can help you apply for a loan from the
bank”
Sharon snorted and looked away disdainfully, no longer interested in talking to Thomas, as she felt it would lower her status.
Thomas felt bitter and aggrieved. The Larson family, rather than him, refused to associate with him. They were heartless enough to drive him to desperation. Every time he considered returning to the capital, his entire family opposed him. Over time, he stopped humiliating himself like this. He didn’t want to come this time unless he was at his wits end. “If you don’t want to, I’ll ask Mom if she can lend me 600 thousand dollars.” Vanessa tutted, saying, “Saying that again? Why are you acting like a fraudster! You’re not welcome here. Hurry and get back to
your place.”
Thomas flushed with anger at Vanessa’s arrogant approach toward him. “Conner, is this how you let your daughter insult me? No matter what, I’m also an elder.”
Conner had always been protective and was slightly annoyed, arguing. “Vanessa said nothing wrong. Have you gotten our permission to return to the capital? It’s good for everyone if you return to Acocester.
Thomas was in a predicament in front of the Larson family.
Caleb and Madeline remained the focus of the crowd not far away.
However, Caleb kept silent throughout, his demeanor icy. So, everyone came here for Madeline. They used pleasant language and did their best to show the friendliness and passion of people in the capital. She was the focus of attention, and other socialites couldn’t help but feel envious.
Everyone toasted one another, appearing luxurious in the crystal light.
Fabian raised his glass, praising, “Ms. Larson is so young and outstanding. It’s too bad I don’t have a daughter. If I had one as good as you, I could fix one of my biggest regrets in life. I liked you from the first time I saw you and can’t help thinking about such things…
The people around laughed, saying, “You can ask M, Larson if she wants you to be her godfather. But you have to offer her a substantial monetary
Fabian pretended to regret it, stating “I dare not to do so. What if Mr. Simmons skins me alive?”
Chapter 179-
Madeline pursed her lips and smiled, her eyes gleaming. Every smile revealed a hint of coldness, but there was no smile in her eyes or any in nation to please others. She was stunning, yet chilly. Many men couldn’t stop looking at her. She was so beautiful. It was no surprise she was so dear to Caleb.
“It’s weird” Madeline swirled the warm water and frowned slightly, asking, “What’s wrong over there? Did anyone cause trouble?”
It’s noisy here. Ms. Larson. Why don’t we go upstairs to talk?” Fabian held his glass and smiled warmly, adding, “This is your first time attending our capital chamber of commerce’s party. We’ll provide you with excellent service. Don’t let some uncontrollable events spoil your mood today”
Madeline smiled and cast a look at Caleb.
