Tani noticed the change in her daughter’s expression and whispered, “Vanessa, behave yourself today. Ruth likes Madeline very much. Don’t do anything to upset Ruth.” 

“After waiting so long for her return, if you keep pulling a long face, you’ll not only up 

upset Madeline but also annoy Ruth.” 

Tiana saad, patting the back of her daughter’s hand to comfort her, “Just stop talking. Put up with it for now. It’s just one meal, after all.” Mom 

Vanessa snorted in frustration, “What kind of spell has Madeline put on all of you! 

“Do you still remember how Madeline bullied me? It’s fine if you don’t stand up for me. But don’t talk like she’s some kind of treasure! 

“I know her. We’re lucky if she doesn’t cause any trouble for us. How could she possibly be content to be a part of our family?” 

Vanessa felt like they were inviting trouble into their house because people like Madeline would never allow others to take advantage of her. Of course, Tiana knew how frustrated her daughter felt

“Why do you look unhappy!” 

Vanessa forced a smile. “I don’t, Grandma. I am so happy that Madeline’s coming back! 

“I just caught a cold last night because the quilt slipped off. 

Vanessa coughed and then added. “I’m just feeling a bit tired” 

“Okay” Ruth nodded. “We’re family. We should be united. Only by working together can we make this big family thrive! 

“I won’t allow any internal conflicts or fights. That’s a big no–no in this house 

“With constant internal fights, no matter how powerful a family is, it will be in decline” 

Tiana quickly said, “Ruth has been through a lot and naturally knows better than us. 

“We are family. Thomas’s daughter is like our daughter. We will take care of her like how I take care of Vanessa. 

Suddenly, they heard the sound of a car driving from outside. 

Ruth waved her hand. “Looks like Madeline is here. Hurry up. Serve the dishes. Let’s have breakfast together. 

The servants, upon receiving the order, all quickly started to move 

There were already several dishes on the table. They just needed to serve the hot soup. 

Some were busy setting the table and serving the drinks. 

Thomas did not feel comfortable at all sitting next to Ruth. He only felt like he was sitting somewhere he didn’t belong.

Ruth looked at the man beside Madeline. Unsure of who he was, Rush didn’t treat him indifferently like she unnally diet.

She said in a deep voice, “Hurry up! Didn’t you hear what Ms. Larson said?” 

The servants quickly brought over a chair and put an extra set of fork and knives on the table. 

Ruth and Yohannes sat down calmly and confidently. 

There were so many people at the table. Everyone had mysterious thoughts as they furtively observed the two of them 

Mostly, they were observing Madeline, 

After all, they didn’t know much abour Madeline. They only knew she was tough. 

She had bullied Vanessa many times yet she got away with it. 

Even Ruth, who once hated and often scolded Madeline, now completely changed her attitude and brought Thomas and his family back home just for Madeline. 

It was obvious how important Madeline was to Ruth!
