Chapter 29 

Inude the hospital, the doctor observed the gathering around Winslet and found herself momentarily lost for words. 

Coincidently, she was the attending physician during Madeline’s previous vİSİE 

Back then, Madeline had suffered a deep wound on her head, which required over 20 stitches to close. 

Yes, her family remained clustered together, arguing 

This time, it was the same family, but the injured individual had changed, and their attitude was entirely different 

“Doctor, you have to provide the best care for my daughter. She has hardly suffered any injuries since she was a chuld,” said Layla, her frustration: evident. “Can’t you prescribe something for the pain? She’s been saying it hurts a lot. This hospital can’t even prescribe a pain reliever? What’s the big deal about giving her some pain reliever?” 

The doctor paused briefly and replied. “The patient only needed four stitches, so there’s no need for a pain reliever 

Lucas stated bluntly. “Four stitches! They were on the back of her head! It’s not you who’s injured, so naturally, you wouldn’t understand the pain. We’re not short of money for this, so just prescribe it already!” 

Winster’s eyes turned red, and she choked with sobs. “Lairas, Ilie okay. I can handle it. I just feel a bit queasy and uncomfortable” 

As she spoke, she even held her chest, looking fragile. 

Layla glared at the doctor. “My daughter says she’s feeling uncomfortable, but you keep insisting it’s fine. If something actually happens, just wait to have your medical license revoked.” 

The doctor remained silent. 

“The doctor has already conducted a full body examination on her, and there don’t seem to be any interject. “It’s probably just a psychological thing? 

issues,” a nearby nurse couldn’t help but 

“What nomense are you spouting?” Layla dismissed it, clearly not wanting to entertain such an idea. “Winnie, don’t be afraid. I arrange a trander immediately. This hospital is simply terrible! We’ll go to a better one, and they’ll definitely figure out what’s wrong with you” 

The nurse’s frustration grew as she thought. “It’s just a minor injury, and they’re insisting on being admitted. Such a waste of a hospital bed: They wouldn’t be satisfied even with a top–tier hospital. They might as well seek treatment in Japrium or better yet, go abroad?” 

Winslet sniffed and wiped away her tears. “Mom, don’t bother. I’m really okay. Maybe I was just seared last night. At that moment, seeing all the blood, it was really terrifying. 

As Winslet spoke, two more teardrops rolled down her cheeks. “At that moment, I thought I was going to die for real.” 

Layla’s heartstrings were tugged. 

Winslet looked at her concerned brothers and Layla who had gathered around her, and a sense of satisfaction welled up inside her, making her feel that the injury was somewhat worth it. 

Word had it that Madeline had received a stern scolding from their mother. 

Winslet put on a pretense of concern and said, “Mom, it was my own fault last night. Please don’t blame Maddie for it. 

Layla had initially planned to discuss the matter regarding Madeline, but due to her uncertainty about the situation between Madeline and the CEO of Vanguard Corporation, she decided not to delve into it for the time being. 

“Winnie, I reprimanded her last night. I won’t let you be treated unfairly,” Layla reassured Winslet. 

Winslet furrowed her brows. “Mom, you really… Maddie’s relationship with the family is already strained. If you scold her too harshly, I’m afraid. she might not come home again. I can handle it, but she’s still a daughter of the Larson family. If she faces difticules outside, you and Daddy would be the ones worrying 

Layla definitely wouldn’t feel sorry for Madeline. 

She huffed. “All right, you don’t need to worry about it. I’ve messaged her, telling her to quickly agree to your offer” 

Winder sighed. “Okay, then” She suddenly remembered something and said, “Guys, let’s not blame Maddie for this incident. It wasn’t her 

intention 

“You’re still thinking about her at a time like this, while she’s acting so maliciously!” Luras exclaimed, tacking the blanket around Winslet. “Silly gal, focusing on your own recovery should be your priority. Don’t concerns yourself with her. Worrying about her doesn’t guarantee her gratitude toward you. You nearly got seriously hurt due to her this time. Don’t go searching for her on your own next time, it’s far too risky?” 

Chapter 29 

Winsley lay down obediently, her gaze shifting between her five brothers who had gathered around her bedside. In their presence, she felt much 

more al case, 

Benjamin had also arrived at that moment. 

Winslet struggled to sit up. “Benjamin..” 

Seeing Winslet in such a delicate state, as if a single touch might break her, Benjamin felt a pang of sympathy. “Winnie, please don’t exert yourself How did things spiral out of control like this? Madeline is truly ruthless. If it weren’t for the fact that you guys are family, she should be facing legal consequences by now.” 

Any sympathy that Benjamin might have initially held due to misunderstanding Madeline had completely vanished by now. 

Sure enough, he had always suspected that Madeline would eventually cause serious harm to Winslet. 

“How could I bear to let her go to jail” Winslet’s face turned sad. “Don’t say things like that. If you say that again.. just don’t come to see me anymore.” 

Benjamin’s heart softened. “Winnie, you’re truly naive to the point that you’re. His words trailed off as he released a sigh. 

Benjamin made up 

de up his mind to break off his engagement with Madeline and then pursue Winslet once again. 

He could never let go of a girl with such a kind heart. 

“Winnie, I’ll start the process of ending my engagement with Madeline as soon as possible. I promise to take care of you from now on and make sure you won’t be hurt again,” Benjamin pledged with sincerity. 

The nurse on the side frowned, her brow furrowing even lighter. 

After stepping away with the doctor, she whispered. “Sir, does she have a terminal illness or something? She only had four stitches, yet she appears as if she’s on the brink of death. Even patients who come out of the operating room aren’t this feeble.” 

The doctor shook her head. “I’m not quite sure either, but let’s not speculate about the patients without good reason” 

The nurse nodded. “I understand, but they’re certainly unique, and those guys are quite interesting as well. If one weren’t aware, one would assume that the woman was suffering from a terminal illness and on her deathbed.” 

She continued with a touch of sarcasm. That woman certainly knows how to put on a show. We were going to be thoroughly scolded by her mother, and our reputation was going to take a hirt 

The doctor was feeling a headache, too 

Odd individuals were a regular occurrence each year, but it appeared that this family had an unusually high number of them 

Madeline received Benjamin’s message in the afternoon. 

At that moment, she was sunbathing on the top floor of Republic Garden. 

She received a message from Benjamin on her phone, asking her to return everything she had gotten from him during their engagement. 

The Moore residence would publicly announce the matter, and she must attend the event when the time came. 

The event was scheduled for three days later. 

Madeline glanced at her phone. “Publicly breaking off the engagement? There’s no way I’ll attend that. How ridiculous.”
