The Remorseful Brothers novel Chapter 32

Chapter 32
Steven opened his eyes and smelled a faint fragrance.
He lowered his eyes and stared at the flustered young girl.
She seemed to be in a hurry. Her hair was messy, and her carlobes were shining brightly under the setting sun.
“How could there be such a soft girl?” he thought.
The horns outside kept sounding.
Madeline looked at him. His eyes were deep and incredibly dark
It looked like an endless whirlpool, concealing an enigmatic depth.
Her heart skipped a beat.
e more nervous and hurried to get up.
“Sorry… Madeline became
Their breaths were very
close to each other.
She panicked.
Steven put
his arms around her waist and pulled her aside
Madeline trembled.
Within a moment, she sat firmly in her seat.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to take advantage of you,” said Madeline.
Swoosh!
The partition was opened.
Steven frowned and asked coldly, “What’s going on?”
Brandon hurriedly said, “Oh, Mr. Wagner. There is a rear-end collision in front of us. There’s a little traffic jam now.”
“Huh? This little blanket…*
Madeline hurriedly said, “I took it out. Um…”
“You saw it? There’s another one for you.” Brandon smiled and said, ‘Feeling a bit chilly, right? I feel cold too. Why don’t you use that little yellow duck? I bought it when I got in the car yesterday. You were sweating all over, and Mr. Wagner was worried you’d catch a cold.”
“Isn’t that a bit childish?”
After a moment, Madeline pursed her lips. “Huh? I thought it was…”
Brandon knew she had misunderstood. “How is that possible? You’re the first woman in this car.”
Madeline peeked at Steven.
She wondered, “Is he… a misogynist!”

It was hard to say.
Madeline took the blanket and put it on her lap. All sorts of thoughts filled her mind.
“By the way, how did you know about what happened to me last night?”
Brandon hummed in response. “It came up on the city news. But don’t worry. It has all been deleted now.”
Madeline’s eyes darkened. “Thank you.”
There was silence after that.
Brandon knew she might be a little sad, but he did not know what to say.
Nevertheless, being beaten up by one’s family was really miserable. Her family was cold and heartless.
The silence continued.
Steven liked to be quiet. He often felt annoyed when others were too noisy.
However, he did not think so upon hearing Madeline speak
He wanted her to speak more.
“Your parents aren’t very kind to you.”
Madeline smiled bitterly. “Yes. Not all parents love their children
She added, “It’s not that they don’t love their daughter. They just don’t love me.”
Madeline pinched the blanket and sighed. “I must have made a fool of myself in front of you last night.”
Steven looked at her.
He was thinking about how to make her happy.
When she was happy, she would talk more.
He liked it.
Steven withdrew his gaze. “Republic Garden isn’t far from Acocester University. It’s also convenient for you to get to work.”
He added, “You can live there. I’m not often in Acocester. The security of Republic Garden is very good. They won’t be able to bully you anymore.”
Madeline wanted to say no but did not dare to speak when she faced Steven’s icy expression.
“You are so nice. Have you always been this good and equally nice to everyone?”
Brandon, in the front row, almost laughed. “Ms. Larson, you didn’t see the last one throwing herself at the boss. She has been banned until her next life.”
“To be good to everyone… That’s simply impossible.”
Madeline whimpered sofily and nodded.
Steven thought Brandon talked too much..
He pondered, “It will just make this little girl more cautious. It seems too much salary makes him too bold with his words.”

Brandon met Steven’s cold eyes and stopped speaking in fear.

Brandon thought, I’m so scared! Wouldn’t Mr. Wagner think something’s wrong with me? It’s too risky to serve people in high positions. It’s better to be cautious!”
The driver also felt that Brandon was like a balloon inflated with air.
The car smoothly entered Riverside Road.
Next to it was the landmark of the city, the Acocester River.
The wind gently blew across the river, causing ripples to spread across the water.
When Madeline was reading messages on her phone, there was another sudden brake.
“Ouch!”
The phone accidentally hit her forehead.
“It hurts…”
Madeline rubbed her forehead. She mused, “It’s my fault for holding the phone too high.”
Hiss!
“How do you drive?” Steven’s voice was extremely low with anger.
He glanced sideways at Madeline. The little girl’s forehead was slightly red, and she looked pitiful.
“Does it hurt?” Steven asked.
“I’m fine, Madeline waved her hand. It doesn’t hurt. It’s just a little bump.”
Steven pinched his hand. He did not make any further move.
“Tyler.”
The driver shivered. “Mr. Wagner, someone stopped the car. If I didn’t brake, we would have hit the person.”
“Mr. Wagner, this…” Brandon’s expression looked a little hard to describe. “It seems to be the boss of a company. I’m guessing it’s because of the recent incident that got blown out of proportion. And now, someone daring has come to seek your help.”
His tone was a little teasing.
Brandon thought, “Seek Mr. Wagner’s help? Do they think they have too much life to spare!”
Sure enough, a man in a suit tiptoed to the car window.
The car window was wound down.
Steven looked outside indifferently.
This person was someone Madeline was familiar with.
He was her father’s business partner and used to be quite proud of himself. At this time, despite looking decent, he seemed disheveled and defeated.
“Hello, Mr. Wagner. I’m the boss of Arbors Group. We met before at the chamber of commerce…”

The man continued, “Vanguard Corporation has been making bold moves recently, and our small company has also been affected. Please, I beg of you, don’t terminate the partnership with Arbors Group. If the contract is terminated, well go bankrupt.”
The man knelt on the ground with a thud..
“I’m begging you. I will remember your kindness in the future!”
Although Madeline was somewhat puzzled, she did not dare to look at him.
“Drive”
Steven’s cold voice did not show any mercy.
“Mr. Wagner, please!” The man hurriedly grabbed the window and said, “I have elderly parents and young children. My son is even hospitalized due to illness. Please. Please give me a chance. Otherwise, our family has nowhere else to turn!”
The corner of Steven’s cold and thin lips lifted. He sneered, “It’s none of my business.”
“Get out of here!” Brandon got out of the car and ruthlessly pushed the man.
He said in harsh tone. “Do you think just anyone can come and talk to our CEO? If everyone were like you, Vanguard Corporation wouldn’t need to survive. It could just turn into a charity. You guys, how dare you play tricks with Vanguard Corporation? You deserve it today! Don’t block the way here. Otherwise, find out for yourself the consequences of offending Mr. Wagner!”
The man’s face immediately turned pale.
He would not dare to beg the Grim Reaper if it were not for the desperate situation.
The driver drove without waiting for Brandon.
Looking in the rearview mirror, Madeline only saw the man kneeling and pleading for mercy, but Brandon did not care at all.
They gradually became distant until they were no longer visible.
“That’s business. If you lose, you lose. No one will sympathize with those who try to cheat their way out.”
Steven suddenly said, “If I lose power, it will end in the same way
Madeline turned around and looked at his cold profile.
There was an invincible arrogance on his face.
Madeline pondered, “Is this what being strong means?”
Madeline averted her gaze. “I know no matter which industry, competition can be ruthless. Rather than relying on others, it’s better to get stronger yourself.”
Steven was not surprised.
At first glance, he thought she was an obedient yet rebellious little girl.
It was not until then that he realized she did not hold back when giving someone a lesson.
However, such a little girl was still bullied by her family.
Everyone had shortcomings.
