Chapter 77 

Madelines intuition was spot on. Layla was indeed causing trou 

Layla had arrived early in the morning

Originally, it was a good thing that happened in the family recently. However, things took an unexpected turn. 

Frustration had driven her to the point of smashing the counselor’s computer, leaving a chaotic scene at the desk. 

“Shut it with your nonsense!” Layla pointed her finger at the counselor’s nose and berated, “You’re spewing nonsense. My daughter can’t possibly be a vocational school student. Do you even understand how difficult things have been for her!” Her gaze shifted to her daughter, who was wrapped up in a wheelchair like a mummy, evoking her motherly anguish. “She’s in this state due to an injury and still made the effort to come here in person. What kind of counselor are you! You lack any sense of morality. I’m reporting you!” 

Christopher Xavier, the counselor, appeared utterly perplexed and innocent. 

He hadn’t caused the girl’s injury. 

Having taken up the position of a counselor just this year, he was new to the job and found himself caught in an unfortunate situation right from 

the start 

Christopher found himself in the office, watching as his colleagues tactfully avoided the scene. 

His eyes showed a hint of helplessness. 

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he spoke. “Mrs. Larson, let’s try to have a calm conversation. Please refrain from damaging school property. These belongings belong to the institution…” He quickly added, “You have misunderstood my intentions. I hold your daughter in the highest regard and would never disrespect her.” 

“It was your initial comments that weren’t appropriate. There are many people listening around here,” Layla retorted angrily, her expression fierce. “What did you say? Vocational school students can’t enroll here? My daughter is an undergraduate student. Do you even know her academic achievements? Who are you belittling when you mention vocational school?* 

Winslet remained in her wheelchair, her voice still functioning even though she couldn’t move her limbs 

She blamed, “Exactly, my scores are the City’s number one. There’s no reason for me to be labeled as a vocational school student. This must be a mistake in the system. Mr. Xavier, please resolve this issue urgently. I need to continue my hospital treatments.” 

Christopher’s mouth twitched as he listened. 

He couldn’t help but find Winslet’s claim amusing. After all, the title of “City’s number one” was already well–known to belong to Madeline in their class. He was no fool and couldn’t believe Winslet was trying to claim that title now. 

I’m not trying to make things difficult for you…” Christopher looked at Layla and Winslet, maintaining his final bit of politeness. “But there isn’t a spot for Winslet in the system, truly” 

Additionally, he had already checked Winslet’s exam score. 

Scoring 233 on the national university entrance exam, she fell significantly below the undergraduate admission threshold. 

Her score was on par with that of a vocational school, which meant that if she were to be admitted to Acocester University, it would indeed be for a vocational school. 

He kindly reminded them that they might have gone to the wrong place, yet he was being scolded for it. Christopher was uncertain whether Layla and Winslet were genuinely confused or intentionally causing a scene. 

“Not in the system?” Layla exclaimed in frustration. “That’s your problem, and you need to figure out a solution!” 

At that moment, Harley also arrived. 

Harley stepped out of the elevator, and Madeline turned to look, feeling a twinge of excitement as she anticipated the unfolding drama.

se man had previously been a professor at Acocester University, and Madeline was curious to see how he would handle this situation. 

Harley was taken aback by the sight of Madeline there. He frowned and quickly entered the office without pausing. 

“He’s so handsome.

“He’s Professor Larson, who’s very famous” 

“In the future, if I go to graduate school, it would be great if he could take me under his wing” 

“Why is Professor Larson here!” 

The students outside were even more excited. 

After all, the man was none other than Harley Larson, a remarkably young graduate tutor. Not only did he possess impressive academic prowess. but he also exuded knowledge and handsomeness. 

Thue to his appealing looks, he gamered quite a reputation at Acocester University. 

Furthermore, he was known for his kindness and popularity among the students. 

It was quite a surprise to see him there. 

In the office, Christopher was under immense pressure, as security guards were already stationed at the door. 

Hearing approaching footsteps, he turned his head and was surprised to see Harley. 

Harley’s expression turned into a frown as he asked. “Mr. Xavier, what’s going on? Is there an issue with my sister Madeline’s student record?” *Professor Larson, are these two your family members Christopher seemed to have spotted his savior. 

He thought. “Come and take care of your family 

He then said, “They misunderstood. I didn’t mean to say anything- 

“This is my mother and my sister. Harley frowned slightly and interrupted Christopher, “Theoretically speaking, the probability of system errors is very small. However, since it’s related to my sister’s future, could you please help me check what exactly happened?” 

When Layla saw her eldest son’s arrival, she felt a sense of relief as if she had found her support. 

Snorting, Layla quickly complained to Harley about Christopher’s behavior, “Harley, you’re here just in time. This man has been treating us unfairly. If he doesn’t provide us with a proper explanation, I’ll make sure to report him. He’s not fit to work at Acocester University Someone like him shouldn’t be a counselor. He’s causing trouble!” 

The other counselors looked at Layla with indescribable feelings. 

“This woman is acting like a shrew. Is she really Professor Larson’s mother?” they wondered. 

All eyes turned to Harley, their expressions a mix of curiosity and anticipation, waiting to see how he would respond. 

Surely, he would handle the situation with reason.

I’ll take care of this,” Harley reassured Layla before addressing Christopher. “Mr. Xavier, considering the high number of students registering today, I understand that things can get busy. However, it’s important to address issues promptly. As a new counselor, you might not be fully acquainted with the procedures, but taking a proactive approach to problem–solving is crucial.” 

Harley’s demeanor clearly indicated that he expected an explanation from Christopher. It was evident that he was leaning toward his family’s side in this matter. 

Onlookers couldn’t help but sigh, thinking, “Aren’t they bullying Christopher just because he’s a new counselor! This is going a bit too far.” 

Christopher’s expression transitioned from surprise to anger. Despite his lower status as a counselor compared to a professor, he wasn’t one to be easily pushed around, he had a strong temper. 

“I don’t owe them anything. Harley doesn’t write me my paycheck, and with a score of 235, even if it were reversed to 532, she still wouldn’t be able to get into Acocester University. I’m not a deity; I can’t change their fates for them,” he grumbled inwardly.
