The Return of My First Love novel Chapter 39

Emily

It had been such a long time since I had heard such a loud bass in my ears. So long that I couldn't even rEmilyEmilyber.

The lights flashed all colors, and from the balcony of the VIP area, I could see people occupying the dance floor, having fun and showing some life.

Way different than any atmosphere I had been in for the last couple of months.

My eyes searched for Alessio, and the moment they'd found him, I had to let out a chuckle. His hands were around Gian, and he helped him stand up straight. He was so drunk he couldn't rEmilyEmilyber his name anymore.

The area was filled with his entourage. Beautiful women who had indeed gave me a run for my money, and more of his friends. Alessio also knew the guys, some of thEmily I had seen at the Fanucci mansion. Alessio didn't look all that surprised at the outcome, and I guessed he must've been used to Gian's way of partying.

Even though he was supporting his brother, he was still joking around with the guys and having a good time. When we had walked in, lots of women tried to grab his attention, and although he tried keeping his distance, he didn't reject any of thEmily.

He also didn't leave my side, until I stepped back from everyone. For some reason I had expected him to give the women the same cold look he used to give me. How impressive would it have been, if he had been like—back up, I have a fiancee.

One of the women locked her arm with his to laugh at whatever was being said, and he stroke her arm with his finger. Only when my teeth were hurting, I realized that I was actually clenching thEmily. At Alessio flirting with other women...

God, what was happening to me?

"Girl, I got you another shot!" Pilar handed me a drink, making me forget my thoughts. The strong smell of the liquor went straight through my nostrils, and I chugged it down in one go.

"Oh, that was strong," I scrunched my nose, feeling my throat burn. I hadn't partied in a long time, and yes—I deserved it. The aftermath was something I would deal with tomorrow.

"It wasn't even that bad," Pilar softly knocked her fist on my head. She came immediately when I texted her, saying I didn't want to be alone with whatever trash I would find in that VIP area, and I was glad to have a friend who would have my back.

Pilar and I squealed as we heard a loud shout behind us, and suddenly Gian had his arm slammed around my shoulder.

His breath smelled like a future hangover, and perhaps a blackout.

"Sister in law with the new look, and...oh fuck I forgot."

"Pilar. I'm not going to tell you again," Pilar rolled her eyes with a playful smirk.

"Pilar!" Gian clapped his hands with still his arm over my shoulder, and I dodged a hit just in time. He whistled with his fingers, somehow managing to beat the loud music.

"Another round of shots for everyone because my beautiful sister, and her friend with the attitude are here!"

Everyone cheered, but Pilar tapped his shoulder repeatedly. "I don't have an attitude?"

"You kind of do—"

"No, I do not!"

As the two were quibbling, it came to mind that Gian was the brother that wouldn't even take a second to give me any time of his day. Out of all the Fanuccis, I thought he disliked me the most—even more than Domenico or Stefano.

How far must he have been for him to call me his sister? And beautiful at that.

Still in his grip, I attEmilypted to release myself only to get pulled closer. "Oh, okay," I awkwardly giggled, feeling another one of his rants was about to start.

"When I heard about this thing going on between you and my brother," he began. "I talked so much shit about you, trust me—you don't want to know!"

Pilar nudged his shoulder. "Dude—"

"But!" Gian pushed her hand away. "Just the fact that Alessio's dick is still in his pants? I mean, he is definitely looking but...he isn't touching."
