Cindy only got up at noon the next day.
Ian had a shoot that morning, so he had already left the house by the time she woke up. To some extent, Cindy had deliberately gotten up at the time she did because she didn’t exactly want to run into him.
In truth, she couldn’t quite explain it either; perhaps Ian’s distant attitude last night had ticked her off. Although she had thought about it and remembered that Ian behaved like that even before then, she shouldn’t overthink things. Besides, they used to get along well.
However, she couldn’t hide the awkwardness she felt.
If they were both going to be uncomfortable being in the same room, why not avoid it then?
After Cindy had gotten up, she washed her face and freshened herself up. Then, she headed to the kitchen.
She had made a lot of food last night, and there were plenty of leftovers from the meal. The food could actually be microwaved, but Ian clearly hadn’t touched a single morsel of it.
As such, Cindy couldn’t quite hold herself back. She snorted before she reheated the food and ate her meal alone. She then checked the time and decided it was time to head out. First, she booked a hotel room and stowed her own luggage inside it before hailing a taxi to go to the airport and pick up Naomi.
Meanwhile, Naomi’s flight arrived on time.
Cindy hadn’t seen her in a long time, so she felt a little excited as she stood in the arrival hall. She immediately caught sight of Naomi the moment she appeared—then, Cindy immediately hopped up and down and waved. “I’m here, Naomi!”
Naomi dashed over the moment she saw Cindy. She surveyed the latter and grinned. “Couple clothes, I see.”
Cindy felt a little embarrassed, for most of her outfits had been planned beforehand by Hannah. Her relationship with Ian now wasn’t exactly normal. Ian’s popularity made it a bad idea for them to openly show off their relationship, so the only way they could express it was through subtle hints like this.
Cindy rushed over to help wheel Naomi’s things. “Come on, I already booked the room.”
“Does Ian have to film today too? I’m rather envious of you. You work as an assistant for a celebrity, and you managed to snag him in the end,” Naomi quickly said.
Cindy chuckled flatly over and over again.
Then, the two of them took a taxi to the hotel. Cindy placed Naomi’s things down before pulling her over to survey her. “It’s been a while since the last time we met. Look at you! You’ve changed so much! You’re already an office worker.”
Naomi pouted. “Making fun of me now, aren’t you? How can I compare to you? You’re about to become rich. Ian’s a money-making machine, so I’ll have to stick to you in the future.”
Cindy thought of the time Gary wanted to help her out with investing. If she could get Gary to give her some advice, she could become rich even without Ian.
Hence, Cindy promptly thumped her chest. “Don’t worry, I won’t abandon you once I become rich in the future.”
Naomi stepped forward and hugged Cindy. “I’m going to write all of that down in my notebook.”
The two of them chatted for a while before heading down to the hotel’s restaurant to eat. As they ate, Cindy looked at her phone. Judging from the current time, Ian should have finished his shoot and arrived home already. Without Cindy at home to cook for him, he would have no choice but to eat the leftovers even if he didn’t want to.
Upon thinking about that, Cindy felt like she had somehow relaxed.
After their meal, the two women returned to their hotel room to rest. Naomi was curious about many aspects of Cindy’s relationship with Ian, constantly pestering her for answers. Meanwhile, Cindy couldn’t leave Naomi hanging—hiding things would make it easy to pique Naomi’s suspicions, after all.
As such, Cindy could only pick some simple questions to answer, like how Ian’s work day was normally like, or what they normally did at home. She mostly chose to answer with some incidents that had actually happened. She wasn’t a master at making things out of thin air, and besides, it was easy for her lies to not align with each other if she did do that.
Stars nearly shot out of Naomi’s eyes. “Why does all of this sound so romantic? I’m so envious of relationships that have developed over a long period of time like yours.”
Every time Naomi gushed like this, Cindy felt awkward. It wasn’t the least bit romantic.
Anyway, nothing developed between them either.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
