The Returning EX (John and Sophia) novel Chapter 1677

Chapter 1677 Cindy’s Friend Is My Friend

Ian’s question was clearly directed to Cindy. This time, Peter was sensitive enough to excuse himself. He hastily bid goodbye to Cindy before thanking Ian for the meal.

Ian looked like he was up on cloud nine at this point. With his arm around Cindy’s shoulder, he turned to look at Peter. “No worries. You’re Cindy’s friend, and that automatically makes you my friend!”

Both Cindy’s and Peter’s expressions stiffened when they heard Ian’s words. Cindy hadn’t expected Ian to do such a thing, so she was at a complete loss for words. As much as she tried to relax, she couldn’t brush off the awkwardness she was feeling.

“I didn’t know you guys had this sort of relationship,” Peter commented as he looked at Cindy. He was obviously stunned by the sudden revelation.

Cindy had no way to go against what Ian said, so she had no choice but to laugh it off. Peter no longer said much after that—he simply waved goodbye before walking off. When Peter was a safe distance away from them, Cindy wriggled her body to shake Ian’s arm off her shoulder. Ian pulled his arm away when he realized what she was doing.

“Should we go for a walk, or should we head home now?” he asked as he turned in the direction of their residential area.

Cindy had no reason to suggest taking a walk—she was already dreading their walk home since she didn’t know what to say to him. “Let’s just go home. Did your mom have her dinner yet? Should we buy something for her?” she asked as she walked a little faster.

“I texted her earlier, and she said that she cooked noodles for herself,” Ian replied.

Cindy didn’t say anything else after that. On the way back, both of them were quiet. If I’m being honest, I really have nothing to say to him, Cindy thought. Silence filled the air until they got home to find Aurora on the couch. She was gaming on her phone—she was especially addicted to the game since she was new to it.

Although Aurora didn’t have her mic on in the game, she was shouting and talking to herself. She didn’t even look over when she heard the door opening. “You guys are back already?” she said. “I thought you guys would walk around for a while more. Isn’t it a little too early to be home?” she asked Cindy and Ian.

Neither of them responded to her. Once they took their shoes off, Ian headed to his room to get his clothes before he walked into the shower. Cindy, too, took out a fresh set of clothes as she waited for her turn to use the washroom. Both of them had sweated after exercising earlier, so they had to shower before bed.

During times like these, Cindy longed for the house that she and Ian had lived in previously. There were two washrooms in that house, so they didn’t have to wait for their turn to shower. After Ian entered the shower, Cindy went over to sit on the couch.

She watched Aurora’s game while Aurora tried to hold a conversation with her. “Did you guys have dinner already?”

“Yeah. We wanted to buy you some food, but Ian said that you cooked noodles for yourself,” Cindy replied. Aurora nodded while she continued gaming. “I had my dinner earlier. I figured that you guys would stay out late tonight, so I didn’t wait for you guys to buy me food.”

After Aurora finished her sentence, she turned to look at Cindy. “Did that guy join you two for dinner?”

Cindy was rather taken aback as she hadn’t expected Aurora to know about this. “Yeah,” Cindy replied with a nod. “I asked him to come along. I thought it’d be appropriate to buy him dinner since he gave me a racket.”

“Mhmm. That’s right. You guys aren’t that close and he bought you a gift, so it’s right to do something for him in return,” Aurora agreed.

The sound of gushing water came from the washroom. Cindy had tried her best not to pay any attention to the sounds coming from there, but she couldn’t stop her ears from detecting all the noises. Although she couldn’t see what was happening in the shower, just the sound of his movements was enough to make her blush. Her imagination automatically fed her with scenes of what was happening inside.

Fortunately, Aurora didn’t realize the odd look on Cindy’s face as she was too focused on her game. After gaming for a while, she finally lost her match. She held her phone up and pretended to smash her phone onto the ground. After fooling around for a while, she lowered her phone and turned to Cindy. “I’ve lost a few matches already! I’m sure I’ll win at least one game by the end of tonight,” she grumbled.
