Cindy felt the urge to laugh. Aurora’s words reminded her of how she had been like when she first started gaming—she had been just like Aurora. The worse she was at it, the more she wanted to play. The more she played, the more she lost, and the more she felt motivated to play again.
After a short while, Ian came out of the shower in his pajamas. He toweled his hair dry as he made his way to the couch. When Cindy saw him coming over, she quickly got to her feet and grabbed her clothes to head to the washroom.
Ian had cleaned the washroom up after his shower, but steam was all over the mirrors. Cindy locked the door before she let out a long sigh. She felt troubled just thinking about the issues she was going to face when going to bed later that night. After taking a quick shower and changing into her clothes, she walked out to find that Ian was no longer in the hall. Even Aurora had returned to her own room.
While she dried her hair in the hall, Cindy’s gaze moved back and forth between Aurora and Ian’s room. It was impossible for her to make the first move to go into Ian’s room as she was just too prideful. In the end, she sat on the couch and reached over to grab her phone.
There was a text from Peter. Cindy checked the time to see that he had texted her while she was showering. ‘Are you and Ian in a relationship?’ Ian asked.
What sort of question is that? Didn’t Ian make things obvious during dinner just now? Cindy responded to the text without any hesitation. ‘Yeah. But we had a fight a couple of days ago, so I might have seemed rather cold to him today.’
After a long while, Peter finally responded with a short message. ‘Oh,’ he replied.
Cindy couldn’t tell what was going on in Peter’s mind with that short reply. All of a sudden, she thought about the girl who had a crush on Peter and what the girl had told her earlier. Cindy had never thought of herself as someone who was pretty enough for another man to develop feelings for her after meeting her for a short while. All along, she had assumed that Peter was nice to her because he wanted her to join their club. However, she realized that something was odd when Peter texted her just to ask about her relationship with Ian.
Peter no longer texted Cindy after that, so she didn’t get a chance to ask for an explanation. She had no choice but to forget about the whole thing. Right when she lowered her phone, Ian opened his room door without walking out. He merely stood at the door and looked at Cindy. “Aren’t you going to sleep tonight?”
Cindy was shocked by his question, and her jaw hung open as she didn’t know how to answer him. Of course I’ll have to sleep tonight! The question is where?
Ian knitted his eyebrows before he turned back to his room. “Well, aren’t you going to come in?”
Cindy was dumbfounded and stood still in her spot. Ian hadn’t shut the room door behind him, and he raised his voice when he realized that she hadn’t entered the room after a while. “Aren’t you coming in? Do you want to sleep on the couch?”
Cindy immediately shifted her gaze to Aurora’s room before she scurried into Ian’s room and shut the door behind her. “Why are you talking so loudly? Do you want your mom to find out about this?”
Ian was already sitting on his bed, and he leaned against the headboard as he scrolled through his phone. “Calm down. She’ll come out later to see if we’ve slept regardless of whether she overheard us or not. Do you think she trusts us that much?” he replied without looking up.
Cindy had to agree with him. He’s right. That’s exactly what Aurora would do. She shut up after that.
Ian was scrolling through a few news articles when he realized that Cindy was still rooted in her spot by his door. He frowned. “Aren’t you coming to bed? I left the other side of the bed for you. It’s big enough to fit you, isn’t it?”
Cindy shifted her gaze to look at the space beside Ian. He was sitting on one end of the bed, and he had left nearly three-quarters of the bed for her. However, regardless of how much space he left her, it was still a fact that they would have to share the same bed tonight.
What happened the night before was an accident. They both had too much to drink, and they couldn’t control themselves. But now that Cindy had to fall asleep beside Ian while she was sober and awake, she felt too embarrassed to make a move.
After Ian finished his sentence, he turned his body away to face his back against the empty side of the bed, then tilted his phone sideways and started to play his mobile game.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Returning EX (John and Sophia)
So what happens to Ian and Cindy. Is she/ or does she get pregnant? Do they go back to the city and Ian works with Logan? Does Aurora stay in the entertainment industry or return with Ian? Terrible ending, who cares if Aurora was drinking/drunk with colleagues. What happened with Ian and Cindy?!...
Get rid of Gary. Apparently Cindy is too dumb to figure out his motives 😡...
Why are you trying to break them up when they just got together and are a loving couple. Let them stay close and move back to their true friends, Logan, Lola, John and Sophia!...
Sure hope Ian pulls his head out of his behind and works this out with Cindy. His brother needs him at the company and neither one of them truly like the celebrity life. Sophia and Lola will love her …....
I can’t wait for John to take down the Bailey’s including Isabelle so he, Sophia, William and Matilda can live in peace. Introduce Yolanda to Richard so they are out of the picture....
Ugh, don’t break up Sophia and John… they belong together and Sophia is just stubborn for no reason...
Sophia lives John, he just needs to tell her he loves her and get on with their life and family. Too much interference from others....
Sophia is so stupid....
John needs to man up, tell his mother and Isabelle to take a flying leap and confess to Sophia that he made a horrible mistake in divorcing her. This story is taking too long and once again, the bitches are looking like they are on the right side. Awful...
